Kurzbeschreibung

You are ninety minutes away from mastering Google+. That's all it takes. But don't take Guy's word for it. Here's what three experts have to say about What the Plus! Google+ for the Rest of Us:

"We didn't expect over 100,000,000 people to join Google+ so quickly. If we had, we might have written a tutorial like this one. Lucky for us, Guy has written this wonderful introduction to Google+. Highly recommended!" Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice-President, Social, Google

"What The Plus is the G+ motherlode! Guy's book will make you fall madly in love with Google+ and never look back!" Mari Smith, author The New Relationship Marketing and coauthor Facebook Marketing: An Hour A Day

"People ask me why I like Google+ better. I struggle to find the words, but Guy Kawasaki not only figured it out but shows you how to get the most out of this new social network." Robert Scoble, Rackspace videoblogger

i wish i had started earlier to read this book and that i would have used google+ more often since i started my digital presence there (mid 2011 -- i was not convinced). anyway, after i've been reading this book that will change radically. guy kawasaki did a fabolous job by evangelising me and i will follow his trail. go out, read that book and at least start using google+. it seems worth it. (of course it was not just the book that made me think so, it was the experience after testing what guy was telling in the book. awful. gorgeous. great.) thanks.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The Google+ guide you've been looking for! 7. März 2012
Von Peg Fitzpatrick - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Being a huge Twitter fan, I was reluctant to spend much time on Google+, one thing brought me there and that was Guy Kawasaki's passion for it. In this book, you will learn all the tips and tricks to be a social media whiz in no time from the master of Google+ himself. Interspersed between Guy's practical advice for all social media, not just Google+, are the unknown secrets of Google+ circles, streams, and much more. This is truly a handbook for Google+ but offers much more than a dry list of how to's.

I highly recommend this book for anyone starting out in social media or new to Google+. Or anyone who would like to read an interesting and informative book. And really, how can you beat that price for world-class advice. Seriously. Just buy it.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Easy, entertaining, empowering 7. März 2012

What the plus -- or what makes Google+ so special? It's what you like about Facebook and Twitter without their limitations. It's the ability to categorize your relationships and define your circles from the get-go. It's the ability to immediately identify people who share your passions or see the ripple effects of what you post. It's video-conferencing made easy, and so much more! Google+ offers both the personal social media experience and its communal dimension. So start today. And start with Guy Kawasaki. This book is more than a tutorial: Guy recounts his own experience candidly, helps you gain familiarity with Google+ and makes it work for you by contagion -- and he transforms "the rest of us" into power users: That's enchantment!

5.0 von 5 Sternen truly for the rest of us 7. März 2012
Von Jose Hanchi - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Google+ is still fairly new and this book will guide you through the features
but more importantly Guy's contribution is on the philosophy of Google+ as it
applies to you and this is worth a read in itself.
The humor, perspectives, and guest chapters make it a truly enjoyable read.
If you like to get the big picture of things this is a must read.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Everything You Need to Know About Google+ 12. März 2012
Von Bruna Martinuzzi - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
If you are not one of the early adopters of Google+ and are sitting on the sidelines, as I was, wondering if this is going to be yet another time sink, this book will remove any uncertainties from its very first pages.

The book starts with a concise explanation of how Google+, Facebook and Twitter compare and provides a simple way to decide on whether or not you need Google+. It will lift the fog on what Facebook is for, what Twitter is for and what Google+ is for.

If you decide Google+ is for you (and I suspect most people will, if not now, at some point,) Guy Kawasaki will then take you by the hand and walk you through how to get started. He will explain a lot of the terminology so that you can feel right at home and save countless hours trying to figure out what everything means.

You will find out about things like "Compiled Shared Circles" (thematic shared circles that allow you to benefit from others' research in a field that might be of interest to you.)

You learn how to master circles and streams, the do's and don'ts and some important information for privacy/security.

You'll know how to increase the quality of your stream with "what's hot" and "hash tag" features.

One section of the book I particularly liked is "How to Make an Enchanting Profile" which is so crucial for that first impression where people make snap judgments on whether they should pay attention to your postings (e.g. your tagline, you avatar, your scrapbook.) I now know I have to do a major rewrite of my profile!

There is also sound advice on being trustworthy and a good citizen of the online community. So many other useful sections: how to comment, share posts, where to cherry pick interesting stuff to post, how to optimize for social search, how to attract more followers, what hangouts are, (if you are promoting something, you ought to check this feature.)

Another interesting and useful section is what to do if you are followed by Schmexperts, Bigots, Idiots (people who share spam) etc.

If you are a woman concerned about being circled by strangers, you should read Lynette Young's excellent essay on Chapter 11+. (The + is not a typo - there are two chapter 11.) Lynette is the creator and curator of Women of Google+.

From the book, I also made a note of Google+ shortcuts.

You'll also discover how to optimize your posts for search engines, how to cross-post and how to use Google+ from mobile devices.

The book is clearly laid-out, easy to read, with beautiful color photos and screen shots to help you see what Kawasaki is explaining. This is a timely book and a bargain at $2.99!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Useful Plus! advice from a fanboy 24. Mai 2012
Von Walter J. Adamson - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
This is well worth $2.99 as after all there are pure spam books on Amazon selling for more, and this one has good content for those who know G+ but would like to know it better. Perhaps even better if you don't know G+ but are curious. This book will get you off to a flying start and even give old hands some small useful tips worth at least the asking price.

Some reviewers have criticised the author for being a G+ fanboy and writing one long advertisement. Well guess what, he says all through the book that he is an unabashed fan - so get over it. If you insist on thinking of it as a infomercial then in any case it is a good one. It's not going to set the world on fire, nor be the last thing you need to read on G+ but it's well written and comprehensive for its time and will accelerate your entry or refinement of what you are doing now.

It has a use-by date as the faster Google update G+ the more the book becomes incomplete. So I would lash out, spend your $2.99 and consume the book while you're consuming your $3.80 coffee from Starbucks.
