During the course of her exploits, she crosses paths with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy, the embalmed body of Eva Peron, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. The glimpses into the lives of the super-rich and the super-famous alone make the book interesting; the addition of the drama and real danger makes it irresistible. This is the perfect book to hand to girls who love Danielle Steel, Judith Krantz, etc., and who think they don't like nonfiction.

Fact more fascinating than fiction

I can only echo the words of the previous reviewers! Countess Aline's books (...Wore Red, ...Went Dancing - so far!) are compelling, and I was truly absorbed from beginning to end! When I finished the first, I couldn't wait to start the second - and now I'm impatient to get the third - "...Wore Silk" - from my sister! I had to keep reminding myself that she would NOT be killed, as she was alive to write these books! And her ability to manage the pertepual romantic current with no "smut" is impressive! Her description of "masculine hands," the brush of lips on her ear, or the mention of leg-to-leg contact during the tango says it all! But beyond that, she teaches so much about Spanish customs and culture, from the attraction of bull fighting to how on earth they manage the high combs and mantillas, to daily routine, meal times, siesta - she never stops. How can this remarkable strong female hero be of the same generation as my mother?

Personal Critique of "THE SPY WENT DANCING by The Countess of Romanones

There are no words that can properly express my excitement after reading "THE SPY WENT DANCING" by Aline, The Countess of Romanones. As one person who simply adores espionage,undercover agents, spies both in a ficitional and non-fictional genre of reading, This book was "Outstanding".
Her timing and pace is reminiscient of her first book, "The Spy Wore Red". The introduction of her dear friend, The Duchess of Windsor,as an accomplice spy was intriguing to say the least! It was obvious that the Duchess adored every moment of her involvement in trying to track down the mole who was embedded in the Social Circle/Social Registry in which Aline and Wallis entertained and dined and danced with. The Countess of Romanones has led a fascinating and exciting life that she is willing to share with all of us. We thank her for this!
This reader hopes that the Countess continues to write more books in English and one day have a Movie made of more of her experiences as the years have gone by! She is truly an accomplished Author and once you pick up her books, you do not wish to put them down, until you read the last page!

Female Tom Clancy - but real!

The books by Aline, Countess de Romanones, are incredible! Intrigue, integrity, adventure and even...fashion! The best part, they are based on true events! If you like Nancy Drew, Jason Bourne and Devil Wears Prada - you will love these books!
