Über den Autor
Stephen Deas was born in 1968. He once set fire to Wales. Well one bit of Wales. Twice. When not burning principalities, he played too much Dungeons and Dragons. Despite this he managed to study theoretical physics at Cambridge, get a job at BAE, marry and have two children. He now lives in Essex.

Enjoyable read but not enough

I enjoyed the book while reading it, but I found the end of Book 2 entirely unsatisfactory. The main character is carried from incident to incident with little influence on the story or his own fate. In the end he is the same character that we started with. While book 1 showed us a pickpocket grow and become an apprentice thief-taker, book 2 shows us a young man that wants to learn the sword, and that's it. At the end of the book we're left with the same character with no real growth or change, save for the few experiences forced upon him in the last few chapters.
I will probably still read book 3, but only because I enjoyed the first.
