The final book in a romance series set in a “fun, sexy world” (USA TODAY), where paranormals seek love through a dating service called Midnight Liaisons.

Ryder is hiding a dark secret from her coworkers at Midnight Liaisons. Every time she’s sexually attracted to a man, her dragon side breaks through. Not exactly man-bait! But she needs to lose her virginity before her twenty-fifth birthday, or she’ll become a dragon forever.

Her solution? Big, hunky Hugh, the appointed guardian of her chastity. He’s clearly hot for her, but he has powerful reasons to resist Ryder. Can temptation—and love—possibly find a way?

3.0 von 5 Sternen Such A Guilty Pleasure 25. September 2014
Von Mikky - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Kindle Edition
This series is such a guilty pleasure of mine! I don't usually like chick lit, but this series just calls to me. It's always so cute in an unpredictable way. The love Mrs. Sims writing style and that's probably what makes this such an enjoyable and silly read.

Ryder was always that character that you'd eventually want to know more about, but got distracted with the real story line in the other novels. She's the flirty office assistant that everybody likes, but she has a secret. The aforementioned secret was loosely mentioned in the previous novels, but it was never in the spotlight. It was really satisfying to finally get a glimpse of what she was hiding. After the first chapter I was hooked.

Hugh was the shifter version of a neanderthal. His animal (much like the homo neanderthalensis) is extinct. Though it takes some time for the reveal to happen, I was still flabbergasted. I loved that plot twist. My guesses were all out of the ball park. At one point (because of Hugh's size and his mention of primordials) I was guessing dinosaur.

By the end when all of Hugh's "brothers" agree to get out of dodge I was having a laughing fit! It's so funny to see these adult beings handling modern technology (something that's considered the usual for most of us) like strange unknown contraptions.

I must admit that I did predict a few turn of events. I also thought the ending felt a little TOO neatly tied up. It seemed like the author could have prolonged that as a subplot for another character, but chose not to. I wonder what she has in store for the future of most of these characters.

Conclusion: I really hope there will be more books/novellas in this series.

My Favorite Quotes:

"He glared at me. 'My drinking vessel broke'".

"Bring us to the land of eager women. I will feed them".

"The best day of my life was the day I agreed to ruin yours (...)".
3.0 von 5 Sternen WILD THING was a sweet ending to a fun series about a paranormal dating ... 23. September 2014

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy

WANTED: WILD THING was a sweet ending to a fun series about a paranormal dating agency. While I wasn’t as thrilled by this one as I was for the previous books it still had its charm and amusing quirky character moments that I’ve come to enjoy in the Midnight Laisions series. Where the previous book featured mostly shifters and vampires WANTED: WILD THING put a bit more emphasis on fairies and revealed the big secret of Ryder, one of the employees of the Midnight Liaisons dating agency. I would have liked to learn a bit more about fae culture but from the fae we meet I don’t think it would be a very nice place to visit. Most of the plot revolves around Ryder trying to get out of being sold into slavery by the fae who have charged Hugh with the task of protecting her chastity. Unfortunately the every perky Ryder who has never been touched due to her fae nature reacting poorly to contact, connected very well with Hugh who has not had much human contact either over the years. I thought the plot of Ryder trying to lose her virginity while Hugh tries to protect it was an okay plot but I didn’t feel that much urgency or tension as it seemed like such an easy and inevitable fix.

On the romance front, I liked Hugh and Ryder together. They seemed like a very sweet pair but I didn’t feel any real heat between them. Sure there was romance and I loved that they were able to connect and relate to each other easily but there was just something missing between them for me. I thought Hugh was adorable. Hugh is a very old shifter and seeing him trying to understand modern day quirks was really hilarious especially his understanding of the pizza delivery man.

WANTED: WILD THINGS isn’t really that great of a series end though I do wonder if this is actually the end as Jessica Sims’s site says she will be writing another story. The world of this series is what I fell in love with and I really do hope there is one more book or some short stories to feed my appetite for this series. While this book was not great it was sweet and had all of the right elements I loved about the Midnight Liaisons series.

I checked Wanted: Wild Thing out from my local library. I enjoy this author, but not this book in particular. I never really got into the two shape shifters who went beasty when aroused. Too weird for my tastes, so I never connected with the story.

4.0 von 5 Sternen A fun paranormal romance: a wee bit slow at the start but I was giggling and smiling by the end! 27. August 2014

I couldn’t say no to trying out a new author (to me) and getting into a new series. I am so glad I did! Where as I didn’t fall head over heels in love with this story, I’m absolutely ga-ga over the world Ms Sims created and I’m really looking forward to going backward and starting at the beginning of the series. Wow… was that a directionally challenged sentence or what?!?! Here, let me help straighten it out…

I knew going in that I would miss some nuances and “feels” from past stories and characters. Sometimes it’s a big deal, sometimes it really isn’t. In this case, I really don’t think I missed much on Ryder’s character.

Ryder is a bubbly, flirty 24 year old who works at a dating service for supernaturals… you know, those special beings that may need some extra help in getting matched up with the right species. She’s always held (or told everyone) that she’s a human. She’s actually a changeling, but I don’t think she fully understands what a changeling is. I think Ryder thinks that changeling means that you just “change” into something. Errrr, folklore says that the fae used to steal human babies and put in their place something else glamoured to look and act human. Poor Ryder found out the hard way that if she touches a boy she’s interested in, her body loses it’s control over it’s glamour and she reverts back to her immature, but true, dragon-ish nature. Talk about awkward first kisses.

Anyone that is missing the touching, cuddling, and KISSES from the opposite sex is going to have some issues! Ryder has handled it the only way she knows how: by trying to be upbeat on the outside and secretly sad and lonely on the inside. I really enjoyed this quirky, strong character that could be at the same time starved for affection. Funny enough, it made me kind of appreciate my hubs a ton (who knew a PNR could do that?).

For me personally, the story was wee-bit slow the first part of the book. I think it was the storyline that I just wasn’t jiving with. There was a lot of running around, fixing this, covering that, dealing with this that went on that there wasn’t much room for heat between Ryder and Hugh, the warrior sent to guard her and her virginity.

Guarding her virginity! Sounds silly, right? Actually, out of context, it sounds absurd but I found the lesson behind the story to be deep and meaningful. What?! Yeah, really. I’ve always been leery of the fae in everything I read and this world is no exception. Those shifty, annoying fae! No regard for life…

This is one of those paranormal romances that is just a fun ride! It has a sweet love story but beyond that, the entire Midnight Liaisons series has a background of characters that is in a close-knit community of supernaturals and many of the couples continue to live on through multiple books. Ryder and Hugh’s story had such a satisfying and giggling ending for me, it put me in such a great mood for the rest of the day.

So, yes, I’m breaking the golden rule and going back to the beginning and reading the series. I will have read them out of order but eh… I so enjoyed Ms. Sims writing style (she writes hot very HOT), this world is so fun, and I really need to know more about all these couples I just got teases of!
3.0 von 5 Sternen Not her Best, But not Bad 25. September 2014

I have loved this series since the first book. I've read and loved each one. This one fell a bit short for me.
We first met Ryder in the first book, Beauty Dates the Beast, as one of the human employees of the paranormal dating service. But from the first, we've been given clues that Ryder is not exactly as human as she claims to be.
And in this book we finally find out what she is and just how valuable she is to the fae. Which is why she is assigned a bodyguard. Hugh. Who as it turns out, is himself a shifter, but one that is extremely rare. And one completely new to a modern world. Which makes for some very funny moments.
There was something about this book that just didn't work for me. The chemistry between Ryder and Hugh was just not there. Their situation, being what it is forces Ryder to push Hugh into doing what she needs him to do to free her. But if Hugh follows through, he's not only dooming himself, but all of his people. So there is a lot of pushing, but no real chemistry. I did love the small glimpses and updates on past characters, and will continue to look forward to the next book.
