Kurzbeschreibung
The illnesses caused by herpes viruses in general and varicella-zoster virus (VZV) especially have been known since antiquity. Since the discovery of VZV, which is one of the major human pathogens, knowledge has accelerated rapidly. This is a study of the virus, edited by a research group at the German university in Witten/Herdecke. This group developed different PCRs as well as NASBA (nucleic acid sequence based amplification) to study the viremic phase at different stages of VZV-associated diseases. They have also focused their efforts on the regulation of VZV glycoproteins. All the chapters written in this volume were contributed by international experts in the field.
