Kurzbeschreibung

Using Stata for Quantitative Analysis is an applied, self-teaching resource. It is written in such a way that a reader with no experience with statistical software can sit down and be working with data in a very short amount of time. The author proposes to teach the language of Stata from an intuitive perspective, furthering students’ overall retention, using many screen shots from Stata to guide students.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great for Getting Started With Stata 1. Juli 2013
Von Jeremy Uecker - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This is a very helpful little book for getting started with Stata and statistical analysis in general. It's very practical and intuitive. I've lent it to grad students wanting to learn Stata, and they've benefitted greatly from it. It would be great required material for an undergraduate statistics course as well. As a previous reviewer has mentioned, it doesn't cover a lot of advanced procedures, but that's not its purpose. This is great for helping those with no experience with data understand how to manage data sets and get started with simple statistical analysis.

Really great book for Stata from basic concepts to more advanced topics. Clayton does a really great job at explaining things in an easy to read manor that makes learning Stata and statistics almost fun. I would recommend this for any student who's interested in learning about Stata and wants to take their education to the next level.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great resource 1. Juli 2013
Von cmunsch - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This is an excellent resource for those interested in learning to use Stata - and even experienced Stata users. I use it in my undergraduate methods course and am pleased at how quickly the students learn to use syntax to conduct their analyses. I would also recommend this book for graduate students - and even for faculty members/researchers. Although I am an experienced Stata user, I even learned a few shortcuts and tips that I was unaware of.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great introduction to Stata 2. Juli 2013
Von Stephen Vaisey - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
This book is a great introduction to using Stata. The goal of this book is NOT to teach you econometrics or statistics but to help you learn how to use Stata to do analyses with which you're already somewhat familiar. There are lots of time-saving (and headache-saving) tricks in here that took me months (or even years) to figure out on my own. If you don't want to spend months fumbling around and learning from your mistakes, I highly recommend this book.

(The reviewer who criticized the book for not teaching him stats would probably criticize a Microsoft Word manual for not teaching him how to write an essay...)

I would not be surviving my stats course without this. It's open right now as I'm trying to do my homework. I've recommended it to all my class mates (it's not compulsory, I just got lucky and found it on Amazon). I don't know how any one else is getting by to be honest... but I'm pretty new to all this, and not real crash hot at it. It was a great buy, totally worth the money.
