Interesting and provocative book, part hoax and part hype, but it's street art as book

A quick caution, don't believe everything you read. This is a fun book, a provocation thrown into the bookstore by street artists (re)writing their history and philosophy. In many ways this is the precursor to Exit Through The Gift Shop (Banksy and Fairey's half hoax, half documentary movie). The photography of the works is quite good as well.
I could go on, but this is best seen in person if you have more than a passing interest in street art (heavy on the politics, sticker, stencil, and wheatpaste, as opposed to hip hop graffiti).

I received "Untitled II" as a gift, and that prompted me to purchased this initial volume. Although I found vol. 2 much more interesting, this issue set the stage for the author's particular approach: sections of styles, sections of artists/authors, and critical commentary sprinkled throughout. In vol. 2, his commentary is much more sophisticated and academic in nature, covering topics such as "Is this a 'movement'?" and the old "Whose rights are being violated &/or championed via graffiti?" If you're only interested in one of these books, get "Untitled II." If you're interested in the larger discussion, get all the volumes!! It's good stuff.
