After a family tragedy, former football hero Jack McGarry keeps the world at arm's - a challenge now that his PR firm has moved to neighborly Fool's Gold, California.

Larissa Owens knows where she stands - Jack sees her as just another one of the guys. No matter what her heart wishes, Jack's her boss, not her boyfriend. But then Larissa's big secret is revealed...by her mother!

I've read all Fool's Gold books in a row. A mistake, I'm afraid...
Because Susan Mallery's style is very enjoyable, witty and well paced; so when read with ample time in between, I'm sure it would be easy to overlook one crucial detail: in almost all these books she tells the same story over and over again. So here I'll give a short summary - not of Jack and Larissa's Story, but of most of Fool's Gold's storylines in general..

Here we go: Boy meets Girl - both with more or less baggage (family tragedy, troubled childhood, early pregnancy, divorce, severe loss - you pick it), sexually confident and wildly attrackted to each other from the start. She dreams of marriage and motherhood, He believes himself unable to commit or even to love. Nevertheless they both decide it's a good idea to have a fling with no strings attached. Surprisingly (!), they fall in love, but while She embraces her feelings, He runs scared. Then, after some time of introspection, He reconsiders. And She takes him back without hesitation, no matter how horribly He bungled the beak-up and hurt Her in the Process. Happy End - yey.

Mallerys whole idea about a small town with too few men is funny, her characters interesting and endearing. But they are all the same! No woman who's main goal in life isn't marriage before the age of 30 and a bunch of children; no man ready to love; no relationship where She might have more reservations and He might be in more danger to get hurt. To top it off, all the guys and girls have the same sexual preferences; so no originality there either - and we're talking about 15 couples so far.

Summary: I don't regret buying Mallerys books and I'm sure to turn to them again. I'd only wish for more variety (and for the female characters to arrive in the 21st century, where it's absolutely ok to be single and not pining for numerous offspring).

5.0 von 5 Sternen ...another perfect Fool's Gold Romance ☺ 24. Juni 2014
Format:Taschenbuch
My Thoughts:

Book #15 - and finally Jack & Larissa's story ☺
I've been waiting for them ever since the football boys moved into town☺

Jack - ex Quarterback of the Los Angeles Stallions moved into Fool's Gold a while ago, with his 2 buddie Sam & Kenny and their 'girl' buddy Taryn. The four of them own Score, a PR Agency - and Larissa is their friend, private Masseuse and.... Jack's personal assistant!

They're all best friends, especially Jack and Larissa. No sexual attraction, no weirdness - just best friends. BUT THEN!!!!!! Larissa's mother came to visit and before she left she visited Jack and told him that she wanted him to fire her daughter! Because, how can she ever find a man and get married and have babies while she's working for Jack in this weird little town?
And now the best part!!!!! She said, that Larissa won't leave on her own because she's been secretly in love with Jack for ages!!! *gasp* o.O

Jack doesn't know what to think - he never really saw Larissa as a real woman. She was always only his best buddy Larissa.
But he has to know if she really IS in love with him.
She's not she says - but now the whole idea of it is floating around the two of them ☺

Things start to get interesting!
WILL THE TWO OF THEM GET THEIR HEA???

NOPE..... I'm not telling you ☺

I don't want to spoil anything!!!

I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!!!

It's no secret anymore that I loved all the Fool's Gold books - I would be happy to have a new Fool's Gold book every month for the rest of my life!

5.0 von 5 Sternen And you thought YOUR mother was nosy..... 24. Juni 2014

Format:Taschenbuch
“Until We Touch”, the final book in the Fool’s Gold trilogy this summer, is the story of Jack and Larissa. Jack is one of the principals in SCORE, a PR firm and Larissa is Jack’s masseuse/assistant. They have a very comfortable and symbiotic relationship. Larissa is forever finding causes and rescuing animals. Jack is always happy to bankroll Larissa’s projects and contribute to various charities, as long as he doesn’t have to be emotionally involved.
Jack and Larissa may have continued on like this forever. However, Larissa’s mother throws a curve ball into this relationship by telling Jack that Larissa is in love with him. Every comfortable part of their working and personal relationship is scrutinized as they wonder if this shocking statement is true. Both Jack and Larissa are forced to look deep inside themselves to evaluate their lives.

This is a typical Susan Mallery Fool’s Gold installment. There are the quirky citizens of the town and their festivals, the deep friendships between the women and a happy ending. One might think that it is totally predictable, but Susan manages to put in plot twists that leave you thinking “I didn’t see that coming”. It’ a good read that is easy enough to bring out to the beach, but has enough soul and heart to make you care about the characters and wonder what the future holds for them.
If you are a Susan Mallery fan, I wholeheartedly recommend “Until We Touch”. If you have not read any of this series, try this book. It’s enough of a stand alone that you will enjoy it on its own merits.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Another Fool's Gold hit you don't want to miss! 24. Juni 2014

Susan's storytelling had me engrossed as usual and wishing I could so live in Fool's Gold! As anticipated, Jack and Larissa's story did not disappoint. Two kindred souls both giving individuals but holding back behind their fears; Larissa deeply involved and hands on in her causes and Jack providing support (financial and otherwise) for those causes. They have a unique friendship that suddenly takes a spin when Larissa's Mom lays it out there. You will experience a gamut of emotions...everything you love and expect from a Fool's Gold story. Enjoy!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Wonderful new book 24. Juni 2014
Von Diane A Miller - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
As usual, Susan Mallery has written a great book that is romantic, funny and very entertaining! Fool's Gold comes to life in each successive trio of books. It is a town one would love to visit. As always, while reading Until We Touch, Susan Mallery's words create a movie playing in the reader's mind. Larissa's causes and Jack's support of them create laugh out loud situations. The supporting characters in the book add so much to the storyline. Getting pieces of the lives of the other people from previous books is very welcome. I eagerly look forward each summer to the next trio of books and the new people we will be introduced to and seeing how they adapt to life in Fool's Gold.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Not my favorite Fool's Gold book 24. Juni 2014
Von needingknittles - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

First. let me say that I like everything that Susan Mallery writes. I think she has a real gift of understanding people, how they talk and relate to each other, and how to communicate that in words.

As much as I enjoy her writing, however, I was a little disappointed in this Fool's Gold entry. It's the third book in her latest Fool's Gold trilogy, but, somehow, not up to the standard of the two that came before it. It was like reading Susan Mallery just slightly diluted.

It's hard to put my finger on why I kept putting the book down and finding something else to do. Although I liked Jack better than Larissa, I didn't find either of the two main characters particularly engaging -- or intelligent. Much of the plot hinges around a decision Larissa makes about how to solve a situation she is in -- and I couldn't help thinking that one would have to be really dimwitted to think the approach she decided on would work. It's hard to relate to a heroine who is dimwitted, and I found myself more interested in what the secondary characters were up to than what was going on with Larissa and Jack.

The book does have it's moments of humor and sweetness, but for me, something was missing.

If you enjoy Fool's Gold novels, then this is worth reading, with the understanding that it isn't a high point in the series. It's not terrible, just not great. And Susan Mallery a little off her game is still far better than most romance writers.

3.0 von 5 Sternen A return to Fool’s Gold 25. Juni 2014
Von Dorris - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
One knows what to expect with a Fool’s Gold book which is why they are so loved. There will be romance, misunderstandings, heartbreak and eventually a reconciliation and a happy ending. What keeps the stories interesting is each couple is unique. Viewing their personal growth and recovery from the heartbreak is always an uplifting experience.
Suffering from survivor’s guilt and abandonment issues Jack grows up to become an affable, handsome, generous playboy feeling unworthy of emotionally close relationships. Feeling responsible for her parents' loveless marriage Larissa loses herself in charitable causes to the point of having little life outside her job and volunteer activities. Coworkers and best friends Jack and Larissa balance each other never realizing their friendship is hiding deeper emotions they can not face.
Jack and Larissa embark on an affair to In a effort to "get over" the inconvenient attraction they can no longer ignore which leads to disaster. Each must resolve feelings about the past and their own self-worth before they can reach their full potential.
Many familiar Fool’s Gold characters from earlier novels and several interesting critters add interest and humor to the story.

I received an advance copy of this novel in return for an honest review.
