Ein wirklich schönes und zugleich informatives Eisenbahnbuch, bei dem auch die wunderbaren amerikanischen Landschaften, welche die Union Pacific durchquert(e), nicht zu kurz kommen. (In englischer Sprache)

Union Pacific Railroad book

The Union Pacific Railroad book is one of a series of books about United States Railroads. They are nice, detailed books and contains many great photos ranging from the historical to modern depending on the railroad in question.
These books are NOT books geared to professional interests in that you will not find rosters of all types and numbers of equipment used over the years and some basic information is lacking in that there are not many technical details of the equipment used by the line. The majority of the photos are distant in that you get a lot of scenery in most of the photos but they are extensive, excellent and varied. This is a plus for those who want to gain an appreciation of the regions the railroad travels through. The one lacking detail is that there are no maps showing some of the routes covered which would have been nice.
Overall, the book is beautifully illustrated and is a good choice of a book if you are looking for a general overview type of book like one would buy for a older child with a beginning interest in trains after an initial exposure to toddler type books. This is not a "Thomas the Tank" type toddler book. The book is also excellent for adults who want a good overall history and appreciation for this great railroad as light reading. (In other words it is easy and interesting reading without being an encyclopedia.)

I have owned Union Pacific Railroad by Joe Welsh and Kevin J. Holland since February 21, 2012. The book describes the rich history of the Union Pacific Railroad from 1869 to today. The book has excellent Color and Black and White photos of Union Pacific Domeliners like the City Of Los Angeles and City Of Portland as well as freight trains that display the american flag on the side of the diesel locomotives in the 21st Century. This is a great book for Union Pacific railfans.
