First, we have used this concise and understandable text in our cardiovascular technology program for some years, and recommend it for sonographers readying themselves for the registry exam.
Second, in response to the rather fussy reviewer from Hawaii, those of us in this field who use ultrasound for diagnostic studies take an exam called "Physics" to obtain certification. The book is meant to help those people to prepare for that exam. Therefore, the title is pretty much right on the money.
I usually advise students (and others preparing for the exam) to use the Edelman text along with another ultrasound physics text, such as the Kremkau or Zagzebski, in order to nail all of the test-taker's blind spots.
NOTE! Some rascals are selling the OLD 2nd edition of this text, the purple one, for absurdly high prices. Get the 3rd edition, the bronze one, which is vastly improved over the older one, and brand new it will cost less than these grossly inflated prices. All respect to Sid Edelman, that one is okay, but not a collector's item.
