Undercover Captor is the 5th entry in the Guts and Glory series, featuring Drew Lancaster and Dr. Tina Jamison. Drew is working undercover to take down a terrorist organization, HAVOC, when said terrorists kidnap Tina, who is a staff doctor for EOD. Drew, who has had a crush on the good doctor for several years, blows his cover to rescue her. The bad guys chase them hallway across Texas while Drew is grimly determined to stay two steps ahead of them.

What worked for me - Drew was a perfectly flawed hero. Drew is known for having ice in his veins, for being in control at all times. Seeing Tina in danger shreds every bit of control for Drew, and he is desperate to get her to safety. As the story goes on, we learn a lot of Drew's backstory, which only added to my appreciation of his character.

Tina is a great shero. She is uber smart and brave. Tina had some incredibly tough circumstances to overcome, including her own perception of herself. She was a tough girl, though, when it counted. Tina proved to have quite a backbone when the chips were down.

Drew and Tina together - they had known each other and crushed on each other for a few years. I thought their romance was sweet, hot and believable. Drew definitely didn't feel like he was worthy of Tina. Tina was afraid of Drew seeing her as the weak link. When Tina sets Drew straight on the strength of her character, I cheered for her. Drew quickly reassessed his opinion and treated Tina like a partner. Well, as much as it is possible for a super soldier to consider a civilian a partner, anyway.

Bottom line - Cynthia Eden is terrific at building great romances around heart stopping action, and Undercover Captor is no exception. Great action, and a sweetly hot romance. Time and money very well spent!

4.0 von 5 Sternen Intense, suspenseful story with a sweet, sizzling romance 18. Juni 2014
Von Hope this helps - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
    Format:Taschenbuch
Rating: 4 Stars. _Some graphic sexual content.
Note: Stand alone read. 5th in Shadow Agents series.

GOOD READ. Well written, likable characters, good supporting cast, and a well thought out, action packed plot with several surprise twists at the end. THERE are a few minor inconsistencies, but they do not detract from the non-stop storyline.

THE STORY revolves around reserved, unadventurous EOD staff doctor, Dr. Tina Jamison, kidnapped by a vicious terrorist group. Fortunately, she finds herself face-to-face with undercover EOD agent, “iceman” Drew Lancaster who will do anything to protect her, even blow his mission and his cover. They escape, and what follow is a series of murderous mind games as they race to flush out and apprehend the terrorist leader before he and his fanatical followers can kill Tina, Drew, and any other EOD agents who get in his way.

OVERALL, non-stop action and heart touching characters makes this story worth the read as Tina finds she is tougher than she thinks and Drew discovers he can be more than his job. Possibly a good series (bpl).

SHADOW AGENTS includes Alpha One, Guardian Ranger, Sharpshooter, Glitter and Gunfire, and Undercover Captor.

You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, C. Ryan. For good mystery/detective writers you might try J. D. Robb, D. Stabenow, M. Ferris, S. Grafton, S. W. Albert, Gayle Wilson, Julie Miller, or B.J Daniels.

    5.0 von 5 Sternen Page turner 28. Januar 2014
    Von S. Frank - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
    Format:Taschenbuch
Fantastic book, a real page turner from the start.  Tina is a doctor who works for the Elite Operations Division.  She is used to patching up agents when they are done with a mission.  She doesn't expect to end up in the middle of a mission herself, but that's what happens when she is kidnapped.  Only, it's a case of mistaken identity, and if they discover the truth she'll be dead.  Drew has been undercover with this group for several months and is shocked to see Tina.  He knows he has to get her away, even if it means blowing his cover.

Tina is a doctor.  She became a doctor after seeing her parents killed during a bank robbery and not being able to save them.  When she's kidnapped by men who think she's her boss's daughter she is terrified.  That terror is slightly relieved when she immediately recognizes Drew as one of her captors, as she knows that he will save her.  Drew is the one man that has fascinated her since she met him.  She is fully aware of what he is capable of doing and of his reputation for having ice in his veins, but that doesn't stop her heart from jumping whenever she sees him.  She has complete trust in him and that he will get them out of trouble.  That trust grows quickly into love as she gets to know more about him.  I loved seeing the way that what he has done in the past doesn't affect the way she feels about him.  Being on the run with him also changes the way she feels about herself.  She has always considered herself weak, because she can have asthma attacks when under stress.  She considers it a huge drawback to her desire to get closer to Drew, because a man like him doesn't need a woman like her.  I loved seeing her strength of will develop over the course of the book.  I especially enjoyed seeing her stand up to them all and insist on being the bait for a trap to catch the bad guy.  And I loved seeing her get to Drew at the end.

Drew had had a rough childhood, doing things he wasn't particularly proud of just to help support his mother and sisters.  After joining the army, then the EOD, there were many who thought of him as a killing machine.  He is always very coolheaded as he goes about his missions.  He had worked hard at his undercover mission to get to the leader of a terrorist group.  Finding Tina as the kidnapping victim is going to blow that cover all to pieces, because he can't leave her in danger.  He also discovers that his control also disappears around her.  His immediate jumping in to protect her from what the terrorists had planned to do to her got them handcuffed together waiting for unpleasant attention.  Drew wasn't sure he was going to be able to get them out of it, but he was going to try.  He had trouble believing that Tina had so much trust in him.  He believed that he wasn't deserving of all that trust, or anything else that she might be feeling for him.  That trust in him started working its way past his walls until he was feeling things for her that he'd never felt for another woman, and it really scared him.  He had kept his distance from his own family for fear of what he does coming back to hurt them, he could only imagine how much worse it would be if he allowed himself to love Tina.  I loved his conversation with Gunner (Sharpshooter) where he asked "Weren't you afraid? That what we do ... Weren't you afraid it would spill over on them?" "I was more afraid," Gunner admitted, "of trying to live my life without her." That went a long way toward making him realize he didn't want to live without her.  I loved their ending scene.

The suspense part of the book was outstanding.  The EOD people knew who it was that had taken Tina.  They had set up a sting to catch the guy, but he took the wrong woman.  The action was constant as Drew and his coworkers try to get away, with the bad guys right on their heels.  It becomes obvious that there is a traitor somewhere in the EOD, so they also have to make their plans and try to protect them at the same time.  I loved Drew's focus as he tries to protect Tina while fighting his growing feelings.  The final showdown was really intense with all the things that were going on.  I loved the part that Cooper played, as the author sets things up for the next book.

Its high octane from a kidnapping to bombs at Marti Gras. When the heroine Dr. Tina Jamison is mistakenly kidnapped by a terrorist organization thinking she is Mercer’s daughter. Mercer is the head of the EOD and has spent years protecting the identity of his real daughter (her story was in the previous book in this series) You’re in for a fast paced thrill ride of escapes for Tina and her EOD protector Drew Lancaster trying to stay a step ahead of the man who wants Tina dead. These two had the hots for each other for years but never did anything about it until they were faced with death numerous times. The villain in this one was someone from Mercer’s past who wants revenge. Another great addition to the series and intrigued about the next EOD agents book – Cooper Marshall.

This is the 5th book in the series. I read the first one and then skipped to this one, quite honestly because it went on sale. I don't think you need to read the books in order although there were a few mentions of past events that I was unaware of. However, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. In this installment Agent Drew Lancaster is working undercover to take down a terrorist organization, in particular their leader when the staff doctor, Tina, is kidanapped. Drew has been attracted to Tina for a long time and blows his cover to rescue her. The rest of the book is them evading the bad guys and Drew trying to protect Tina.
For me, this series reminds me of going to a Jason Stratham movie. You know what to expect and as long as that's what you want you really enjoy the movie. This series, is not very original, the romance is good but not fantastic. There is a lot of action and not much suspense. However, it's exactly what I expected from a book in the Shadow Agent Series, and at $1.99 a fantastic deal.
I really enjoyed both Drew and Tina's characters. We got a nice backstory to both of them and understood where they came from. They both had flaws/issues to work through, but that was accomplished fairly quickly. I liked that the characters had both been attracted to each other for a long time but hadn't done anything about it. I thought the romance was believable. Drew was a great Alpha character and Tina was tough but believable. Bottom line - this was a really good book and I will go back and fill in the gaps of the previous books. I already bought the 6th in the series.
