Nuremberg, the "most German of all cities", was in the eyes of the Americans nothing less than the sacred home of National Socialism. First of all, Nuremberg was the Nazi "Shrine City", home to pompous celebrations staged for the annual Nazi Party Rallies, spectacularly and effectively organized by the NSDAP and the Wehrmacht. Furthermore, Nuremberg was the site from which the Nazis’ disgraceful Race Laws were decreed, marking the beginning of the Holocaust.
