Synopsis
"Typhoon" is set in Chiragpur, a Pakistani village warped in time, space and guilt, whose inhabitants are still traumatised by what happened some twenty years earlier in a courtroom (kacheri). With the arrival of a beautiful stranger from the city, the villagers are helplessly swept along by a typhoon-like series of events and become buried under the burden of their guilt. Closely guarding their small silk parcels containing a lock of a woman's hair, they all hope to return it to its rightful owner and beg her forgiveness."Typhoon" is a tragic tale of three young women, each one demonised by their past: Naghmana - the glamorous stranger from the city; Chaudharani Kaniz - the village land baron, and Gulshan - the innocent wife. One is caught in the arms of another woman's husband in the middle of the night; another was raped in her youth; and the third woman's world fell apart as she lost her husband, before her eyes, to a total stranger and her mother vowed revenge. For all three there is no escape from what fate has in store.

i read the book in 2 days. it was so good i couln't put it down. it was written with great details. i thought i was really there with the characters. all the descriptions of village life was very nostelgic. i could smell the village life while i read.

Another 5 Star Wow for Qaisra Shahraz

Qaisra Shahraz, has once again wowed her readers with her second novel Typhoon and has become one of Britain's leading authors. Typhoon, although not a direct sequel to her previous novel: The Holy Woman, tells the gripping story of three women. Once again Qaisra Shahraz has taken some of the fascinating characters from her earlier book and developed them in a truly excellent way. One character in particular is the proud queen of the village Chaudharani Kaniz. She has become one of the most interesting characters in both books. We thought we knew her well in The Holy Woman it is not until Typhoon that we really understand this wonderful complex woman. Once again Qaisra Shahraz takes us on a wonderful exotic journey opening up the world of Pakistan to both the Western and Asian reader. You don't need to travel to that country because its heat and passion both spring out of the pages of these wonderful books.

I must say that I have really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading it I was not able of stopping. I was interested, just from the beginning, in knowing the end and why of the story.
Thanks Qaisra to let me have a nice time through this story. I have already ordered the other book I have seen in Amazon of this author.
