Twelfth Prophecy She is a singer of sweet songs . . . and a sinner. A searcher for truth . . . and an outcast. Life is fraught with danger in the village of Sychar in the first century A.D. But for Abigail, the Samaritan woman, the danger lies not as much from the ever-present Roman soldiers but from the rabbi and the people of Sychar. Full description

Twelfth Prophecy 31. Mai 2011
Von Cathi Smith - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
In my opinion, the CROWN JEWEL of all their works are Brock and Bodie Thoene's A.D. Chronicles. More than a series of stories, it's an up-close encounter that awakened in me a greater thirst for more of Jesus. I beheld the grandeur of the night sky, I felt the breeze scented with lavender. I heard the bleating of sheep in the lambing caves of Bethlehem. I felt the terror of those pursued and hunted and by evil killed. And As I journeyed through each book I lived anew the wonder and awe of Yeshua's grace healing discarded human treasures.

CAST AWAY like so much refuse, DESPISED more than the mongrel dog scrounging in the garbage, and LOATHED for her extraordinary beauty, her SINS publicly paraded, Abigail Photini, the Samaritan, suffered-cruelly. In the "TWELFTH PROPHECY", the Grand Finale of the A.D. Chronicles, I not only heard her angel voice, but I felt the ecstasy of Abigail's song reach a resounding crescendo when from out of the dry, thirsty ashes of her misery the Restorer offers her a profound gift and an unheard of mercy! I love this book and this series! To explain a sunrise--well--you shall just have to see and experience it for yourself!

My Review for Twelfth Prophecy 1. Juni 2011
Von Kathy Warth - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
For an AD Chronicles fan I have to say that this book read a bit different than the rest. That is not a bad thing at all but just unique for this series. Abigail is despised yet desired for her outward appearance and unfaithfulness to her husband. The brutality of ones that hate is quite an ugly thing, cruel and heartless. She endured quite a bit at the hands of the law. Makes me wonder what the world would be like today if those laws still applied, so much different I would think. The introduction of new characters by the authors in this sequel is both refreshing and needed. That is one of the things I love about this series, getting to know new people yet visiting with familiar ones. The authors have the ability in their writing style to transport the reader to the time they write about as if you are witnessing the unfolding of the lives around you. I won't give any other details away you have to read them for yourself. This book does read well and like the others does have an extensive study guide that follows.

Loved this book! It's a great look at the Samaritan woman at the well from a fiction perspective. The book is well written and sucks you in. Can't wait to read some more from this author!

Another great novel from the Thoene's duo! 21. August 2011
Von Noelle the Dreamer - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
We are avid fans of Bodie and Brock Thoene's books in our household and I was delighted to be amongst the first borrowers of 'The Twelfth Prophecy' at our local library.

For all those of you who have followed the many series written by this great husband and wife team including the A.D. Chronicles, the Twelfth Prophecy is yet again proof of the excellence of their cooperation!

For those of you who have yet to discover Bodie and Brock Thoene's work, pick up any of their novels and you will be entranced!
'The Twelfth Prophecy' is number 12 in the A.D. Chronicles, a perfect combination of historical facts and fiction allowing us to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. New Testament characters so familiar to Christians comes to life as we learn about their daily lives under the Roman rules.
The description of Jesus' anger when confronting the money changers in the Temple seen through the eyes of a Centurion is breathtaking!

But this is the story of Abigail whom Jesus sought at Jacob's well for a drink of water. As we read of her near stoning by the local townspeople, their abuse and mockery and share with her the birth of her child we see the scriptures come to life.
This is a magnificent story about love and a factual description of early Christian life in Palestine.

As always, an excellent addition to your family library and nothing less than 5 stars will do!

Be sure to visit Bodie and Brock Thoene's website (here) for information!

Do take a moment to visit the 'Shiloh Light Foundation', a nonprofit Christian association located in Nevada. Thanks to their sponsorship, US Armed Forces personnel and others receive literature and audio books!

A quick reminder: I was not asked to review this book and all opinions are entirely my own!

These Just Get Better and Better 9. November 2011
Von Barby Johnson - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
This series is one of my favorite reading series ever. The books just get better and better. This one covers the story of the "woman at the well" and it brings to light what life must have been like for her back in Jesus' day. We tend to read everything as if it were happening in today's time, but it would have been nearly impossible for her to survive on her own back then. Anyway, I can only encourage you to start this series at the beginning and read thru til the end.
