Kurzbeschreibung

Josie Loyshner has a big problem: Bad boy Nathan Brown just sauntered through the door of her earth-friendly inn looking for a room. Worse, her architect husband wants to invite him to the bar for a drink.

Nothing about Nathan has ever been simple, and his arrival now, when her business and her marriage are on the rocks, can only mean trouble. If only she knew how much.

5.0 von 5 Sternen There's No Trouble With Green... 16. August 2011
Von William Grasso - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
We've probably all known women like Josie Loysher. She's strong, determined, attractive, and able to convert her dream into a successful enterprise. But beneath her composed, professional veneer and earth-toned wardrobe, there's a terrible secret. When that secret becomes a deadly instrument in an ultra-hostile corporate takeover of her business, will she find a way to overcome the past and still survive?

I must confess that when I began reading this book, I expected little more than the standard Lifetime MOW format: some man screwed me over! But I was delighted to find it far superior. With an exacting eye for detail that paints vivid, memorable pictures, Liv James has created an intelligent story, full of interesting, well-developed characters. Even when Josie finds herself dangerously over her head, Ms. James never swerves into damsel-in-distress clichés. Give this book a try...you'll find it difficult to put down.

2.0 von 5 Sternen Book Misses on Many Levels 5. September 2011
Von Traci E - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

Felt compelled to write a review because the book was 'so close', but fell flat. The character development is where it struggles the most. There's a lot of contrived and awkward moments. (Spoiler alert) Jeff's brothers are constantly 'slapping each other on the back' and bantering, even when it's completely inappropriate for them to be, like when Josie is missing and they are trying to save her. Seriously? Who guffaws and backslaps at a time like that? The bad guy, Nathan, is not believable at all. He's supposed to be duplicitous.. suave, educated and professional enough to be inline for a C-level position at a major corporation, but treating all women as subservient prostitutes and slipping them date rape drugs to bed them. That would take more than a few lines of text to be believable, and the author does not pull it off. Jeff and Josie - no chemistry. Not even when having no chemistry was part of the story line. The reporter, Frannie Jane. In one sentence it says she doesn't like wine but enjoys a Brandy Alexander now and then. And a couple lines later, she's in the bar drinking Rum and Coke. Huh? And, preventing Nate from drugging and raping a woman, which we are supposed to believe everyone in the hotel and the corporation approves of, and chalks up to him having a way with women that is legendary. Seriously? The small town cops - don't get me started. Apparently, all the cops are dirty and all the townspeople stupid, complacent or drunk. But the worse was when Nathan says Christoper, the young, dirty copy who has been rather bumbling, irritating and arrogant, but not sinister - has been hired by Nathan to come back and stay with Josie that night. And that Josie will be a new woman when Christopher is done with her. Again, huh? Christopher hasn't been a peach, but he hasn't really been all that intimidating or scary either. So, another unbelievable moment that just didn't connect. I finished the book not because I was enjoying it, but because I found myself curious how the author was going to wrap up the plot and the characters. The ending was like the book.. kind of bland and not all that rewarding.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The Trouble with Green 8. Juli 2011
Von Mary Basse - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I would highly recommend this book. This was an interesting story about a woman and her haunted past. The characters are believable and the story weaves around in a compelling way. I especially liked the relationship between the main character and her husband.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Started out well, ended with a crash 3. September 2011
Von Jean Wilson - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

I have sharpened my pencil, metaphorically speaking, to write a review on this book.

I liked the premise, most of the characters engaged my attention as they were introduced to the story, the storyline was laid out well for the first third of the book. Upon Josie arriving in California the logic and believable aspects started going downhill and picked up speed. A reasonable person would have seen warning flags all over the place and taken a different course of action. Nathan, the man from her past was just a nasty cardboard character. His character and actions were unbelievable. There was a corrupt police force that people were unhappy about. Why didn't the town get help the State Police to oust the corruption?

There was a kidnapping, with assistance by a corrupt police officers. The story ended. Just that. It ended. We never find out what happened to Nathan for his kidnapping of Josie. (In Josie's words, "There might be charges brought") The police officers are still at work. The young girl that worked at the California bed and breakfast just disappears after admitting her part in the kidnapping. Josie decides to stay in California with her husband (who has taken a short term architectural assignment). In the beginning of the book she is all consumed with the running of the B&B along with the chain of B&B's that are part of her organization. But she just walks away from all that.

Did Ms. James just get tired of writing the story? Did the publisher just give it to an editor and say "Cut it?" Sad, because

2.0 von 5 Sternen Another bad book - not even worth it when it is free! 26. August 2011
Von drmiami6 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

This book started out good and I really thought it would be interesting. Then, all of a sudden, it took a downward turn and became quite ridiculous. The characters were uni-dimensional - some were all bad with no redeeming qualities. I always finish books and this was one of very few where I skipped ahead glancing at pages because I couldn't bear to read it. I would not recommend spending - wasting - time reading this. Buy a good book instead!
