Kurzbeschreibung

12. August 2014 Trillium
Award-winning and fan favorite comics creator Jeff Lemire spins the tale of two star-crossed loved through space in time in TRILLIUM!

It's the year 3797, and botanist Nika Temsmith is researching a strange species on a remote science station near the outermost rim of colonized space.

It's the year 1921, and renowned English explorer William Pike leads an expedition into the dense jungles of Peru in search of the fabled "Lost Temple of the Incas," an elusive sanctuary said to have strange healing properties.

Two disparate souls separated by thousands of years and hundreds of millions of miles. Yet they will fall in love and, as a result, bring about the end of the universe. Even though reality is unraveling all around them, nothing can pull them apart. This isn't just a love story, it's the LAST love story ever told.

Collects TRILLIUM #1-8.

2014 EISNER AWARD NOMINEE FOR BEST LIMITED SERIES

"This book represents a challenge to other creators: the bar for creativity in comics continues to be raised."—Publishers Weekly Starred Review

“For writer/artist Jeff Lemire, his new Vertigo series TRILLIUM isn’t just an exercise in stretching his sci-fi muscles; it’s an exercise in stretching the boundaries of his creativity and artistic talent."—Nerdist

"When you get to the last page of TRILLIUM, you can't help but think "wow." This is an exciting and original work that deserves your attention and your dollars. Buy TRILLIUM."—IGN

“TRILLIUM is a confident, unique debut that exemplifies why Lemire has become one of DC’s top creators, but he remains at his best when he’s doing his own thing away from superheroes.”—A.V. Club/The Onion

"Once again Lemire shows why he's a master storyteller. Trillium is exciting, visceral and cerebral at the same time."—CraveOnline

“If Lemire has adopted the quicker pacing of his recent works, he still knows when to pan the camera back and let his layouts project the vivid imagination bustling inside of him. And that’s what makes TRILLIUM such a special work: this is a piece of an artist pulled from a deep place nobody’s ever seen before. And for Lemire to share that, all we can say is thank you.”—Paste Magazine

"Lovely and terribly enjoyable."—Comic Book Resources

"This is sci-fi at its finest, an amalgam of everything we love—time travel, space, alien races and of course the most important element of how humans process these stirring events."—Aint' It Cool News

5.0 von 5 Sternen Time Travel & Romance 12. August 2014
Von Nicola Mansfield - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
A mesmerizing space opera which delves into time travel and maintaining a romantic story line. Lemire uses his raw art style here which takes me a bit to feel comfortable with but once I get used to it I found this style very suitable to the themes in the story. On Earth , early 1920s, WWII has taken it's toll on the people and exploration of the jungles looking for massive treasures of gold is still a hot pastime. In the 3600s humans live on an inhabitable planet but the sentient virus The Caul is quickly destroying all living races and is approaching this planet fast. The Blue people who worship Trillium flowers and black holes connect these two strangers from the past and they set out to save the human race and give meaning to their loveless and lonely lives by finally meeting in each other their soul mate. The ending is a bit esoteric, but only takes a couple of rereads of those last few pages to fully understand the meaning that hasn't been spelt out for you. An unusual science fiction tale told in Lemire's usual brilliant style.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Science fiction tale that defies space-time and conventions 28. August 2014
Von nottooterrible blog - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Lemire isn’t afraid to paint outside the lines, this applies to his storytelling as well. Trillium is a brave work of art, immensely personal and brilliantly illustrated. This love story spans galaxies and centuries: Nika is light years away on the last human colony in the year 3797; William is from London of 1920.

Faced with extinction, the last humans in the universe are looking for Trillium, a flower with chemical properties strong enough to immunize them against the Caul, an intelligent space-travelling virus. It is this flower and the natives’ temple that brings Nika and Bill together.

They don’t just face the obstacles of space-time; even their family and immediate social circle doubt their sanity. Yet somehow through it all, they meet again and head towards the inevitable and tragic end, the only way their story could’ve ended. This was advertised as “the last love story” or something to that effect. All will become clear when you read the book. Which you should be doing, right now.

I really want to tell you more, I want to give you all the details that made me read this book three times in one day but trust me, I’d be doing you a disservice.

3.0 von 5 Sternen Story is great...Edition is subpar 21. August 2014
Von James Aitchison - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch
Reviewing the edition not the story

This is a typical Vertigo paperback....printed on low quality newspaper stock paper. I was very disappointed when this showed up and saw the low quality of the edition. I would much prefer the higher quality glossy paper that truly captures the art and colors and I would pay the extra money to have it. If not for the story, I would have avoided it entirely. Been really disappointed with the Vertigo trades of late with the exception of the Deluxe editions.
