#1 New York Times bestselling author Vince Flynn delivers a heart-pounding novel that poses an alarming and timely question right out of today’s headlines: What if America’s most powerful leader was also its prime target?

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a deadly terrorist attack on the executive mansion. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly one hundred hostages are taken. Mitch Rapp, the CIA’s top counterterrorism operative sent in to take control of the crisis, determines that the president is not as safe as Washington’s power elite had thought. Indeed, Rapp has made a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail.

'Right out of today's headlines...A wonderful romp through the halls of power...The action is bloody good and the concluding chapters are complex, chilling and satisfying.' The Plain Dealer (Cleveland) 'Flynn keeps the action moving' Houston Chronicle 'Moves at breakneck won't be able to put it down' Times Record News (Wichita Falls, TX)

On a busy Washington morning, the stately calm of the White House is shattered as terrorists gain control of the executive mansion, slaughtering dozens of people. The president is evacuated to an underground bunker, but not before nearly one hundred hostages are taken. One man is sent in to take control of the crisis. Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top counter-terrorism operative, determines that the president is not as safe as Washington's power elite had thought. Moving among the corridors of the White House, Rapp makes a chilling discovery that could rock Washington to its core: someone within his own government wants his rescue attempt to fail. -- Dieser Text bezieht sich auf eine vergriffene oder nicht verfügbare Ausgabe dieses Titels.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Transfer of Power 27. Juli 2000
I really enjoyed this book. Once I started reading it, it was hard to put down. Fast action keeps your interest. If you like his first book, "Term Limits", you will like this book also. I agreed with another reviewer -- "Tom Clancey move over".

4.0 von 5 Sternen Kurzweilige Unterhaltung 17. Januar 2012

August 1999
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I don't know what the "official" critics have against Mr. Flynn. The only thing I can think of is they are not reading the same books I am. I will admit that there are flaws within the book. But I would challenge those critics to try to fill almost 400 pages without having some flaws in your work.
I read Flynn's first book Term Limits just a few days ago. After reading it, I immediately went out and bought Transfer of Power. I found Transfer of Power to be just as entertaining as Flynn's first novel. In my opinion, both books have been well researched. The operations of the military's special forces units and also domestic law enforcement seem extremely realistic. I believe this is evidence that Flynn has really put time into researching the operations of these groups.
The characters in this book are all interesting and realistic. Just like his first book, the good v. evil plot makes the pages just fly by. The only criticism I have of the book is that the ending came a little fast. Other than that, it was an excellent book and I can not wait for Flynn's next book to hit the shelves.
Critics, open your eyes. Flynn is the real deal. I'm aware that you get paid to criticize the work of other people, but you need to find someone else to pick on. Flynn is not your man.

3.0 von 5 Sternen A good summer-time read 12. Juli 2000
Transfer of Power is a step up from Flynn's initial novel,Term Limits. Despite inaccuracies on power structures as they exist inthe Middle East, I found the book to be a good summer-time read. The book does not require a lot of thinking and the good guys are clearly distinguishable from the bad guys. The author even makes a semi-hero out of a female character..
What surprises me most is that whether intentional or not, Flynn provides an adequate defense on why some Islamic groups have come to hate the United States. This is done despite Flynn's depiction of most of the bad guys as being almost animalistic in nature. In other words, despite the means by which they are trying to achieve their cause, they do have a good reason to be angry.
The ending comes way too quick, but perhaps in reality this is what happens. How many times have we seen in real life, dramas playing out for days, weeks and even months, only to come to a final conclusion in mere minutes?
I am actually looking forward to Flynn's next novel that appears to be an extension of this novel. He is improving in his story telling and dialogue between characters. I am only glad that I chose to read this novel first rather than Term Limits. Had I read Term Limits first I probably would never have read this one. END

5.0 von 5 Sternen Flynn is the new master 29. Juni 1999
Von Ein Kunde
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
In his second novel, Mr. Flynn shows that he has staying power. Flynn seems to have an excellent handle on how to blend a political thriller with a military thriller. I love his use of elite units, ala Delta Force, DEVGRP (SEAL Team Six), and FBI HRT. But what Flynn does best is create characters you love to hate! He did this in Term Limits and once again continues the trend. The VP and his chief of staff are true spineless politicians who are the scurge of our country. The antics they pull off during this crisis boils your blood. And who doesn't love it when the straight shooting, real man (Rapp in this case) tells them how it is. I loved this book and highly recommend it. The only thing I did not like about it was the ending. For all the great buildup it had, I thought it ended too quickly. But, the time inside the Whitehouse, the president's bunker, and the HALO jump are awesome! A side not to this book is the Aziz's tactics of using the politicians for his own purposes. It does make a statement about our country and who runs it. I truly hope Flynn continues writing books like this.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Top of the Heap!! 12. Juli 1999
Von Tom Ross
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I was very impressed after reading Vince Flynn's first novel "Term Limits". I immediately purchased and read "Transfer of Power" when it became available. This one even surpassed the first novel in everything you like to read in this type of story. Hard to put down and go to sleep, you want to keep reading all night if necessary. Action is outstanding, relevant to the times and believable. The characters cover the whole scope of the good, the bad and the ugly and each one is done in magnificent style. His understanding of and the use of various types of military/civilian special ops units is excellent, coupled with the many times they are handcuffed by politics and behind the scenes manuevering of those in power, who are more worried about their press reviews than the final outcome of the crisis, makes for reading you feel a part of. Vince Flynn has rapidly gone to the top of my list of authors for whom I eagerly await the next book to be published. I hope that there are many more to come, and soon!!
