Kurzbeschreibung
The Torres del Paine Circuit is a 140km journey using clear and well marked paths that link a comprehensive network of huts and campsites. Taking approximately 10-11 days to complete, it reaches its highest point at 1180m and offers beautiful views in every direction. The guide emphasises low-impact trekking, and has detailed route descriptions and full background and planning information. Torres del Paine has been a national park since 1959 and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1978, and is home to some of South America's most iconic sights. Its immense landscape is filled with awe-inspiring mountains, beautifully unspoilt forests and emerald-coloured lakes. It is bordered on the west by isolated fjords and on the east by seemingly endless steppe, and it sits on the edge of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field - the largest sheet of ice in the southern hemisphere outside Antarctica. Transport to and within the park is simple and, with minimal elevation gain for most stages, none of the routes described are difficult. Other routes include 2-day treks in Laguna Verde, Rio Pingo and Laguna Azul.
