If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. This book contains details about her life with ataxia (she writes actual dates when an event occurred) along with many positive statements to live and grow by.
Chapter 1-WHAT IS ATAXIA?-the definition is given in this chapter.
Chapter 2-ATAXIA THROUGH THE YEARS-her experiences are divided into three parts: The Onset of Ataxia 1973-1984, Symptoms Continue 1985-1996, and Advancing Symptoms 1997-2008. (This book was released in 2009).
Chapter 3-THEY KEEP ON COMING.- a brief talk about balance issues, slurred speech, and tremors.
Chapter 4-ACCEPTING LIFE AS IT COMES
Chapter 5-DARE TO BE HAPPY
Chapter 6-NEVER TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED
Chapter 7-KEEPING THE FAITH
Chapter 8-PEACE OF MIND
Chapter 9-FACING YOUR FEARS
Chapter 10-A HEALING PRAYER
Chapter 11-MOVING ON WITH MY LIFE
Chapter 12-CHILDREN LIVING WITH DISABILITIES
Chapter 13-EXERCISING-I love this chapter because it details many types of exercises, including: Facial Stretch; Head Twist; Over-the-Head Arm Stretch; Bilateral Arm Rotations; Hand and Wrist Flex;, Waist Twist; Calves, ankles, and toe Flex; Thigh Stretch; Calves and Back Stretch/Abdominal Crunch; Shoulder Lifts; Knee Crunch; Leg Lifts; Cobra; and Flat-out Relax.
I read this in an evening and it was well worth it. I just love positive books and the listing of the exercises is great!
