This follow up to Black Swan Rising finds Garet James traveling to France to find Will Hughes. After stealing the box, Hughes has gone to Europe in hopes that he will be able to cross over into the faery realm and finally be rid of his vampire curse. In order to find him, Garet will have to gain the favor of a number of local fey.
The story alternates between Garet (present time) and Hughes's own background story. While the new characters and their stories were great additions, I found myself much less interested in Will Hughes's tale. Unfortunately, I found that the book felt rushed and was a bit of a let down after Black Swan Rising. The cliffhanger ending was not much of a surprise and could have been worked into the story a little better. I hope that book three in the series is more on par with the series opener.
