After watching the Forks Over Knives documentary and actively trying to incorporate healthier food choices for my family, I decided I wanted to (slowly) make the transition to a vegan diet. Lo and behold, I walk into my local grocery store to see that Amy Cramer is speaking to promote her new cookbook. I grabbed one of my vegan friends and we checked it out. Her talk led me to buy this cookbook for my Kindle. This book is WONDERFUL! It's filled with quick, easy, delicious recipes. I had also purchased Forks Over Knives - The Cookbook: Over 300 Recipes for Plant-Based Eating All Through the Year, as well as The China Study Cookbook: Over 120 Whole Food, Plant-Based Recipes.....this one is hands down my favorite. It's real food for the American palate that offers an easy, versatile transition to vegan dishes. It basically takes food that my family has always enjoyed and vegan-izes them. I've cooked more since I started making the recipes in this book than I ever used to. It's a great cookbook for the working family that wants to make quick, healthy meals everyone can enjoy. Not to mention, the authors provide many suggestions and supplemental information on transitioning to vegan eating. There's even a 21 day vegan meal plan, which is super useful and realistic for those who enjoy eating out.

My favorite dishes from this book are the Italian dinners and salad/wraps. The desserts have been so-so. I've also noticed that sometimes ingredient amounts or serving sizes may be off. I just make a note for next time and move on to the next recipe.

Overall, I've loved this book. I cook from it weekly (at least!). It has been a huge motivator and cheerleader for my vegan transition. And my husband, who has been less than enthusiastic about giving up meat, has very much enjoyed the meals. I even made the vegetable lasagna for my steak-loving in laws to huge accolades...maybe they were just being polite, but I'm pretty sure they didn't notice that the dish was lacking in cheese.

I am a fitness professional with many clients who need to change their lives, or be in real trouble. I am always looking for a way to introduce them to healthy(ier)habits. Discovering the Vegan Cheat Sheet was a coup. The information is presented in a completely accessible way; the writing is engaging; the personal stories compelling; the guide to eating out is fantastic; and the recipes are wonderful. No down side here, only up.

I have always sorta been a health nut, but never seemed to get the right results. Never totally a vegetarian either, but somehow the Vegan Cheat Sheet helped make me a better Vegan. I am new to being Vegan because I am now on the path of lowering my cholesterol & staying heart healthy. I love how this book is written! I now really feel comfortable with making my food choices not only in restaurants but on the go and grocery shopping as well. I love the challenge of making our meals and all the nutritious food recipes in her book. Her book gives me the support I need. She also recommended reading the China Study & also Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, which I did. Thank you so much Amy!

I recently have started eating a vegan diet and this book is in my purse, getting lots of use! Not only does this give a quick overview of the benefits of going vegan, it tells you where you can get certain nutrients, amazing recipes, and the chapter on dining out is so useful. This is the book I've been looking for.

The recipes, BTW, are really tasty, pretty healthy, and best of all, they're simple and classic. I have tons of vegan cookbooks now from various authors, but I've been having trouble finding recipes to things I used to eat before. While I love experimenting and finding new flavors and textures in food, sometimes I just need some easy comfort food, like pasta or a burger. The recipes in The Vegan Cheat Sheet are exactly what I needed.
