Kurzbeschreibung

Evil never dies. . . .

After escaping the horrors of the Dark Dimension, Elena and her friends can’t wait to attend Dalcrest College, the beautiful ivy-covered campus where Elena’s parents met. Life with Stefan is better than ever, and with her closest friends Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt by her side, Elena knows it will be their best year yet. Even Damon seems genuinely changed and is getting along with everyone.

But for Elena, moving away from Fell’s Church doesn’t mean she has left her dark past behind. When students start to disappear from campus, every new acquaintance is suddenly a potential enemy. Panic soon spreads and the friends struggle to protect each other.

Then Elena uncovers a long-hidden secret, one that shocks her to the core, and realizes tragedy may be unavoidable. Will Elena outrun her fate? And will it be Stefan or Damon who catches her if she falls?

Disappointed in the ghost writer (warning: spoiler alert) 15. März 2012
Von Sarita0218 - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
When I originally started reading "The Hunters" trilogy of The Vampire Diaries, I was hopeful that the characters would continue on the path set out for them by L.J. Smith. The first book, Phantom, seemed to head in the right direction, although I couldn't help feel somewhat disappointed in the way the author portrayed Damon's return and even Elena's reaction to it. After watching Elena's character develop and begin to have feelings for Damon, it was a slap in the face of readers to get this far into the series and to have never really given Damon a chance with Elena. I'm sure Stefan fans are rejoicing everywhere that the ghost-writer decided to play it safe and choose him as the "love interest" over Damon, but I believe the writer did not follow the true path the characters should have taken. The ghost-writer (whoever he/she is) also leaves this book with far too many loose ends to cover in the final book of The Vampire Diaries series. Having Klaus possibly return in the final book is the act of someone desperate to find a reason for excitement. He's supposed to be DEAD. And as we know from previous books in this series, once the soul of a vampire leaves his body for good (no pulsing of life), it's just gone...not even the Guardians can bring him back. The ghost-writer is playing at Pet Cemetery for vampires-- it's just sad.
Also, in the last book officially written by L.J. Smith, the readers learn that Meredith is a human-vampire hybrid (officially sired by Klaus), and that she requires doses of blood to live (blood sausage, blood pudding, etc). In the last two books of The Hunters trilogy there is NO mention of this-- it's as if the entire matter never was mentioned.
The one bright spot in the entire book was Bonnie meeting Zander and finally having her own boyfriend. So many people were hoping Damon and Bonnie would end up together, but that simply would have never worked out-- their characters don't fit together in that way. According to L.J. Smith's blog writing, she had intended for this (Bonnie and Zander) to happen.
If the ghost-writer continues in this vein, it will require (undoubtedly) more than one book to conclude The Vampire Diaries series. I seriously hope he or she does not disappoint readers further by ending the series without substantial closure on most (if not all) fronts.

Same old, same old. 15. März 2012

After finishing this book, I must say I'm almost regretting having paid $10 for this. I could have just reread a previous book in the series and been no worse off. The story was entertaining at times, but mostly predictable and boring. And Elena's attitude throughout makes me want to slap her.

**Spoilers** from here out. You have been warned.

In the course of this series, the whole story from the very first books, how many times has Elena stomped on Damon's heart? Too many for me to count. She spends all her time worrying about how Stephan feels, saying they are soulmates, and yet has absolutely no problem stringing Damon along. She promises herself not to get involved with him, does it anyway and when Stefan's had enough she figures "Eh. Why not have a go at the other brother." THEN! When Stefan has a change of heart and forgives her she drops Damon... AGAIN! She has seriously evolved into a really crappy human being. Not that she wasn't before... just infinitely more so now.

And then, Damon not being.. well, Damon is just weird. He says very little, nothing too witty. He's all emotional in this, and hardly any of it is anger. It's like he's just turned into a really bad subplot to get Stelenas up in arms. Then "Awwww." It's all back nicely in place and no one is truly upset... yet. I'm definitely over the whole triangle thing. I'm glad Elena picked Stefan because honestly Damon deserves so much better. They need to just leave her out of the next book. Team Salvatore all the way!

The one good thing was Bonnie and her new boyfriend. Yes she deserved it, but the way it all played out was confusing. You have your suspicions, and Zander does seem overprotective, but it turns out Elena is just a b**** and a really bad judge of character.

After all that, I am going to be generous and give it 3 1/2 stars... Wasn't worth the wait. I may just give up on this series before it comes to an end on it's own.

Pathetic! 20. März 2012
Von Patricia - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com

It's sad to see how the ghost writer is ruining LJ Smith's work! This book was pathetic, even worse than The Phantom! I bought The Phantom and this book because I have loved all of the Vampire Diaries books written by LJ Smith so much that it was hard for me to leave the story, and the characters I love, especially Damon, at the point they were in Midnight, and because I was hoping against all odds that I might find somewhat good in this new ones. But for me, they are terribly bad! The storylines are predictable and boring; the spark of LJ Smith's writing is missing together with the depth of the characters. Now they are mostly 2D, shallow and difficult to relate with.

******SPOILER ALERT, be warned!!*****************************
Elena going in circles for 9 books now and the Stefan and Elena endings are unbearable and make no sense at all!
******END of SPOILER ALERT!!*********************************

I think I'll have to finally accept the hard and sad truth that we will never know how LJ Smith would have ended this story if she hadn't been fired from her own book series. From now on, I'll consider Midnight as the last book of the series, and I'll not be buying anymore garbage written by ghost writers. Congratulations Alloy!
