Der Autor über sein Buch
The treehouse book is a culmination of 6 years of collecting photographs from all over the country and the world. I am so excited about this book that I can hardly stand it! For a long time since the first treehouse book came out in 1994 people have been begging for more treehouse pictures. I put out a book in 1997 (Home Tree Home) that answered some of the technical "how-to" questions, but the feedback was - more pictures!
The fun part about this book for me was that it was easy to put together. David Larkin and my wife, Judy, did all the hard work. I'm the type of person that likes to have 5 or 6 projects going on simultaneously, so when David contacted me to suggest we get this book going I was thrilled. David is one of the greatest book designers in the world and the thought of putting his touch on my favourite subject was merely too exciting to consider. What really hooked me was that he said all he needed was my ever building photo collection. He would even write it!
Well, there was much hard work in the end. Judy worked to organise the dishevelled treehouse file which was a feat in itself. She also arranged a busy schedule for our friend and excellent photographer Paul Rocheleau. David performed his magic and now everyone has what they wanted.
As for my contribution, there are a number of treehouses featured in the book that our company, TreeHouse Workshop, has built over the years. I can't seem to get away from cedar shingles as a siding treatment so they should be easy to pick out. There have been countless hours invested by many individuals in these projects. I think the best thing about all of these treehouses is that they come directly from the heart. Enjoy!
