The Traitor Queen: The Traitor Spy Trilogy: Book Three [Kindle Edition]

Very similar to parts I and II! I give 4 points because I enjoyed reading it. However, I cannot say that I consider it a good book.
No surprises, no interesting thoughts behind it.

I liked reading it but stopped thinking about it the moment I closed the book.

In order to avoid spoilers I will not include contents in my review.

After having read the two previous parts I have to admit that I had high expectations as to the conclusion of this trilogy, not at least since Trudi Canavan tends do make the conclusion of each of her trilogies the best of all three books for some reason.

The story continues right after where it had ended in 'The Rogue' (book 2) and is divided up into four main plot lines (Lorkin, Sonea, Lilia and Dannyl) which are brought together in the process of the story.

Although Trudi Canavan develops the protagonists in a comprehensible and well-structured way it is just to predictable what will happen to them. Too many hints prognosticating how the book might end and almost no unexpected turning points (except one or to subsidiary events) lead to a rather monotone reading experience. Through that you also get the idea of an unsuccessful attempt to replace older characters by newer (e.g. Lorkin and Sonea). It seems to me like the author has become emotionally attached to Sonea and thus, does not want to release her.
Nevertheless, Trudi Canavan did great work considering this completion of her trilogy as a sequel to the Black Magician Trilogy.

The question is, if this review is really necessary because for those who have already read the first two books there is no doubt that they will read the conclusion to this trilogy as well. Indeed, do not be discouraged by my opinion since the book is really worth reading it. It is more the fact that you should keep down your expectations which makes your reading experience quite more enjoyable.

All in all, 'The Traitor Queen' is an indispensable book to read concluding the Traitor Spy Trilogy. Very few surprises can be considered as the only deficit.

DO READ THIS BOOK! If there will be another sequel to the Traitor Spy Trilogy (the end does contain one or two hints that there might be one) you will regret not having read this book.

Ich bin eigentlich ein großer Fan von Trudi Canavan und hatte die anderen beiden Trilogien und das Buch "Magie" auf Deutsch mit großer Begeisterung gelesen.

In der Traitor Spy Trilogie ("Sonea" auf Deutsch) war meiner Meinung nach von Anfang an der Wurm drin. Eine unglaubliche Zögerlichkeit bestimmt das Verhalten sämtlicher Charaktere. Das hat mich bereits in Band 1 so ermüdet, dass ich Band 2 erst mal gar nicht angefangen habe.

Wenn man sich überlegt, was Sonea in der Gilde der schwarzen Magier passiert ist, kann man sich zwar vorstellen, wie das dieses damals ja noch junge Mädchen so traumatisiert hat, dass sie auch Jahre später noch handlungsunfähig und nicht lebenstauglich ist.
Aber das ist doch als pure Beschreibung ohne Aussicht auf Veränderung kein Romanthema. Und wieso färbt das auch auf alle anderen Charaktere ab?

Nun ja, nachdem ich in Ermangelung anderer Literatur dann doch Band 2 dieses Jahr mit in den Urlaub genommen hatte, wollte ich einfach nur noch wissen, wie es ausgeht und habe Band 3 auf Englisch gelesen.

Insgesamt muss ich sagen, es war noch der beste dieser Trilogie.
Irgendwie wurden alle Personen durch die Ereignisse gezwungen, endlich mal Entscheidungen zu treffen und zu handeln.
Aus den Nebensträngen hat mir die Story um Lilia eigentlich am besten gefallen. Vermutlich weil das ja eine gewisse Parallele zur jungen Sonea darstellt.

Es gab erstaunlich viele Beziehungsstorys parallel zur Rahmenhandlung. 1x "Rumgeeier" wie bei Sonea wäre ja noch witzig gewesen. Leider zieht sich das aber (bis auf die oben erwähnte Lilia) auch hier wieder bei allen beschriebenen Personen wie ein roter Faden durch... Kein Wunder, dass die Magier heute ausgestorben sind!

Aber alles in allem hatte ich doch wieder mehr Spaß beim Lesen als in Band 1 und 2.
So kann ich das Buch auf jeden Fall zumindest für alle empfehlen, die schon Band 1 + 2 überstanden habe.
