Best-selling author Taro Gold's creation, The Tao of Mom, is a rare jewel of a gift book celebrating the timeless theme of motherhood with a daily dose of motherly wisdom.

In The Tao of Mom, author Taro Gold shares with us 365 rare and insightful quotations from mother figures around the world, revealing on each page the wisdom, courage, and compassion that define motherhood. Tao is a Chinese word meaning way or path. The Tao of Mom, then, is literally The Way of Mothers.

Many of the women celebrated in The Tao of Mom are well-known, while some are not; many hail from the West, yet all impart distinctly Eastern sensibilities. To further enrich our journey into the thoughts of each motherly figure, background details are included about each woman, such as Rosa Parks, mother of the modern civil rights movement; Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the democratic movement in Myanmar; Maria Montessori, Italian educational reformer; and Abhirupa-Nanda, Indian poet-to name only a few.

Lavishly illustrated, this gem of a book is for you to give to the moms in your life, for moms to give to you, for everyone to give to dads (as a loving reminder of how wise moms can be), and of course for you to give to yourself. The Tao of Mom is for everyone in need of a daily dose of motherly wisdom, inspiration, and comfort.

5.0 von 5 Sternen 365 Rare and Inspiring Quotations 8. Juni 2004
Von Rebecca of Amazon - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
Joy can spring like a flower even from the cliffs of despair. ~Anne Morrow Lindbergh

For years, Taro Gold was the recipient of journals given to him by his mother each New Year's Day. From these journals, Taro has selected 365 of his favorite quotations. He also includes biographical notes about each quote contributor.

I was captivated by quotes by Madame Chiang Kai-shek, Sei Shonagon, Patricia Clafford, Rosa Parks, Humishuma and Lady Murasaki Shikibu.

Many of the quotes are exclusive to this collection. Taro has included wise quotes from his mother and wise women in his extended family tree. There are quotes filled with humor and profound quotes filled with wisdom. I especially enjoyed the quotes by Great-Grandma Edi and Taro's Mom. Great Aunt Iko explores the idea of expectation and Aunt Kimiko defines adulthood in a creative way.

Everything you want to become on the outside you must first become on the inside. ~Mom

Taro Gold has spent much of his life living overseas. He has been successful as an author, children's counselor, teacher, interpreter, actor, singer and songwriter. He has traveled to over thirty countries and has lived in Australia, Spain and Japan. He has also written extensively for international Buddhist publications.

Taro Gold's books are well worth collecting and make the perfect gifts for any occasion. They are universal in their appeal and always bring moments of enlightenment to your life. The art and patterned pages also add to this books visual appeal.

5.0 von 5 Sternen great gift for parents and kids 19. März 2004
Von Joseph Malina - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
my wife gave me my own copy of this book after encouraging me every day to read her copy. I resisted at first since it sounded like a book for moms but to my delight I discovered it is an amazing resource for parents no matter if you are a mother or father. We read from it to our kids now as well and they want their own copies.

5.0 von 5 Sternen My mother loves it 12. März 2004

My mother loves this book so much she gave it to every member of our family at her 60th birthday party. Of all times, when she's supposed to be GETTING gifts she's giving everyone else one! What an amazing gesture, and so like a great mom.
This book is an incredible gathering of wisdom from hundreds of mothers around the world. I read from it every day and it often helps me see myself more clearly, appreciate my family better, and I hope it makes me a better person for it. And hopefully a better parent!

5.0 von 5 Sternen Great book for everyone 4. Juni 2004
Von Joan Hartley - Veröffentlicht auf
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I met author Taro Gold in Chicago on his book tour this month and he was as delightful and interesting as his books are. I have enjoyed all of his books but I think this one may be my favorite of all. It is called Tao of Mom but it's really a book for everyone and is probably the most diverse and thought-provoking collection of wisdom I have come across in my life.
