Here it is--the result of four years of investigative research, at an approximate cost of $40 million. Back in 1994, Kenneth Starr was appointed to investigate a series of investments made by Bill and Hillary Clinton; the Whitewater allegations never bore fruit, but then somebody whispered stories about the president and an intern named Monica Lewinsky into Starr's ear. He and his team of prosecutors sniffed around and this is what they've come up with: "According to Ms. Lewinsky, she and the President had 10 sexual encounters, eight while she worked at the White House and two thereafter." The details are bathetic in their precision: "during many of their sexual encounters," Starr notes, "the President stood leaning against the doorway of the bathroom across from the study, which, he told Ms. Lewinsky, eased his sore back." And yes, as far as we know, that was the President's semen on Monica's navy dress.

Whether or not it's government's job to produce hackneyed narratives about young women who find themselves falling in love with powerful men is for voters to decide, but this story would be rejected outright by readers of Harold Robbins or Jackie Susann, were it not for the newsworthy elements. Of course, there's also the second half of the report, in which Starr explains how Clinton's attempts to prevent his relationship with Lewinsky from becoming public knowledge constitute grounds for his impeachment. That's the part of the document that matters most from a political perspective ... but it's doubtful that it'll be the part that lingers in historical memory. --Amazon.com

Very disturbing. 18. Dezember 1999
Format:Taschenbuch
I find this book to be very disturbing, for two primary reasons.

First, this book is proof that Republicans are lying when they say that they want smaller government. The Republicans spent millions of tax dollars to investigate a sexual act that took place between consenting adults. Did you hear me? I said that they were consenting adults. So why should the government get involved?

Secondly, Bill Clinton has signed a number of internet censorship bills. How ironic, then, that he has been largely responsibile for this kind of sleaze appearing on the internet. Apparently, Bill Clinton thinks that reading about sex is somehow more significant than engaging in it. Talk about hypocrisy.

So how do I feel about all of this? Well, I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican. I am a Libertarian. My position is that the government should not prosecute adults who engage in consentual sexual activity, and that the government should not censor the internet. However, since Bill Clinton has spent his entire presidency trying to expand the powers of government into just about every area of peoples' lives (internet censorship, know your customer law, the war on drugs, his health care plan, etc.), I see a certain sente of justice when that very same big government that he supports decides to stick its nose into his life. Bill Clinton asked for big government, and he got it. He got exactly what he asked for. So I don't think he should be complaining.

If you believe the apocolypse is nearing, read this book! The sleaziness is beyond anything ever written in Playboy, the use of descriptive words are hilarious, and, amazingly, I learned new ways to have sex! Read this book!

Very badly written.
This book was the worst that I have ever read and every copy of it should be burned in an all consuming fire. The publisher must have been drunk when he produced it.
