Rubin "Hurricane" Carter was riding a wave of success. The survivor of a difficult youth, he rose to become a top contender for the middleweight boxing crown. The book was his cry for help to the public, an attempt to set the record straight and force a new trial. Bob Dylan wrote his classic anthem "Hurricane" about his struggle, and Muhammad Ali and thousands of others took up his cause. The power of Carter's voice, as well as his ironic humor, makes this an eloquent, soul-stirring account of a remarkable life.

The Sixteenth Round was written by a man that put everything he had of himself into this book. From the beginning it rings as true and honest introspection and very quickly the reader identifies with Rubin. The writing shows a total dedication; I could imagine the author sitting in the cell carefully planning every word and phrase like a sculptor might if they were creating the most important work of their life. While others may have simply wallowed in the misery of their situation, Rubin strived for something more out of life, a true champion that refused to quit even after the most devastating knockdowns. Inspiring.
Best book.

I bought this book for my Grandson as it was not in our library.
He said that he liked the story. The text is full of profanity, but
that being said, he did read the book. The book was purchased from Amazon,
