The book at issue quite distinctively sets itself apart from other works by the same authoress. At first glance it drags the reader into a purportedly psychic or supernatural realm which turns out to be overshadowed by a very human crime. It carefully examines the characters and presents a novel detective who, though operating quite differently from Miss Marple's or Hercule Poirot's routine, proves to be equally successful in unravelling the mystery. A very prominent aspect of the novel is the succinct description of Devonshire, Agatha Christie's native surroundings.
All in all a very recommendable piece of art which is in my opinion, however, not as baffling as some earlier critics have argued.
