1. Februar 2013 Teach Yourself
Time management skills that work! Reboot your entire life in three simple steps. Quick Reference Guide included with over 30 online tools and 40 done-for-you routines. Is it possible to keep up on life, let alone enjoy it, when you're overloaded and overwhelmed - with work, with errands, with emails and texts, and with relationship responsibilities? You get things done, but do you get them done well? Do you have enough time for other people - and for yourself? The 3 Secrets to Effective Time Investment takes you beyond simple time management to provide you with the skills and outlook you need to completely revamp the quality of your life. You'll learn how to reorient your mindset and use simple routines to accomplish more than you ever dreamed possible. Packed with tips and advice about how to overcome crippling emotions like guilt, let go of the compulsion to be perfect, and overcome the most common obstacles to a life well managed, this powerful, holistic, total-life guide is founded on three powerful principles: Secret numbered 1: Clarify Action-Based Priorities: determine what's most important to you and define exactly what you will do to invest in those priorities; Secret numbered 2: Set Realistic Expectations: shift expectations of yourself and others from the realm of the ideal to the realm of the possible; Secret numbered 3: Strengthen Simple Routines: develop healthy habits so the flow of your life moves effortlessly toward your highest goals. A renowned authority in her field, Elizabeth Grace Saunders illustrates exactly how her methods work through case studies of time-coaching clients, and she provides a quick-reference guide of real-life example routines on everything from exercising regularly to moving forward on a dreaded project. The 3 Secrets to Effective Time Investment does more than help you make the best of the time you have. It gives you the tools, insight, and guidance you need to overhaul your entire life. Praise for The 3 Secrets to Effective Time Investment: "You don't just need to manage your time, you need to invest it. This book offers key insights on what it means to live life well by getting things done and enjoying the ride." (Marshall Goldsmith, New York Times bestselling author of MOJO and What Got You Here Won't Get You There). "If you lack grit - which most of us do - read this book. Elizabeth's practical insights on how to strengthen good time investment habits can help you develop the focus, discipline, and tenacity you need to achieve success." (Heidi Grant Halvorson, PhD, author of Succeed and Nine Things Successful People Do Differently). "I love the main thesis of this book - that time management is less about managing your time and more about managing your emotions. That alone is a good reason to read this book." (Peter Bregman, CEO of Bregman Partners, Inc., and author of 18 Minutes). "From the very phrase 'time investment,' you know this book is something special. Direct and powerful and easy to implement, Elizabeth has a key ingredient to your success right here." (Chris Brogan, CEO of Human Business Works and New York Times bestselling coauthor of The Impact Equation). "If you are going to go from ordinary to extraordinary success, you need to invest your time in your top priorities. Elizabeth teaches you how to do just that." (Scott Gerber, founder of the Young Entrepreneur Council). "This book can help you move past your blocks, invest your time wisely, and ultimately transform your life in the process." (Jenny Blake, author of Life After College: The Complete Guide to Getting What You Want). "This book is magical." (Ash Kumra, cofounder of DreamItAlive.com; author of Confessions from an Entrepreneur series; and public speaker).

5.0 von 5 Sternen A First-Class Field Guide for Time Management 17. Februar 2013
Von JeffConnects - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
In her recent release, The 3 Secrets to Effective Time Investment, time coach Elizabeth Saunders tackles success in life by moving beyond what we've already learned about time management. I've long held that time management is the key to unlocking potential. This perspective has been influenced greatly by Stephen Covey's First Things First and David Allen's Getting Things Done. Yet for years, my unbalanced life has belied these dog-eared books, but not for lack of insight or intention. In The 3 Secrets, Elizabeth brings her approach for taming patterns of thought, emotion and behavior to the fore, and this is quickly resulting in an upward spiral of success for me, both personally and professionally.

At the core of the book are the three "secrets" that fundamentally extend common time management themes. Secret #1 is "Clarify Action-Based Priorities," which calls for moving beyond setting priorities to identifying, scheduling, and monitoring very specific actions (e.g., run three miles after work on Tuesday and Thursday). Inertia wins wherever there is ambiguity in your intentions... or in your calendar. Secret #2 is "Set Realistic Expectations," which exalts progress over perfection and especially over others' often misaligned expectations. This is an investment approach that builds success over time, not on the hope of a windfall. Secret #3 is "Strengthen Simple Routines." This takes the actions and expectations of #1 and #2 and makes them as automatic as possible by creating, practicing, and reinforcing habits. There is an entire chapter of "done-for-you" routines-everything from project planning to exercising, and from building relationships to buying groceries.

Now, back to thoughts and emotions. The real key to unlocking the three secrets is in understanding your personality and behaviors. From the outset, The 3 Secrets addresses the "crippling emotions" which prevent us from making progress. As it turns out, establishing a hierarchy of goals and neatly labeling file folders won't even come close to addressing the feelings of overwhelm, guilt, fear and frustration that often keep us from moving forward in a new direction. "Key Mental Shifts" are identified throughout the book which help to chart a custom course from negative to positive emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. And exercises at the end of each chapter reinforce the principles and their application. For me, this journaling made it a much more personalized and relevant learning experience. It certainly got me in touch with my time gremlins!

In my view, Elizabeth Saunders has created a first-class field guide for achieving "work-life brilliance." It succeeds at expanding and, more importantly, personalizing the principles of time management. For me, this has contributed to some breakthrough thinking, especially favoring progress and making incremental daily investments that are already beginning to compound. Among other improvements, I'm spending more time with my family, more time focused strategically and with my leadership team at work, more time exercising and eating right (I've lost 15 pounds!), I'm getting better sleep, and I'm finally blogging. All with more focus and calm. Okay, it's true that my email inbox could use considerably more investment right now, but there's a done-for-me routine for that too!

Your time is your life. If you're feeling more spent than invested, I recommend The 3 Secrets to Effective Time Investment to help you start taking it back.

Elizabeth Saunders has distilled wisdom garnered from years of coaching clients into this book. Most of us reading time management books are looking for systems, and she has some very good ones, combined with excellent tips and tricks on how to go about implementing them. But her biggest insight is really more holistic. Simply put, it is the converse of the Golden Rule: do unto yourself as you would do unto others. Frequently we beat ourselves up for failure to live to outrageous demands and unrealistic expectations that we would never foist upon others. If instead we nurture ourselves and treat ourselves with kindness, we will not only achieve more, but revel in our work. An excellent read with a refreshing perspective.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Perfect Mix of Theoretical and Practical 7. Januar 2013
Von Kelly Azevedo - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
I'm a big fan of organization and systems for time management so I went into the 3 Secrets of Effective Time Management with high expectations and Saunders blew me away! Not only does she delve deeply into the why behind many of my self sabotage but provides a path of clear steps out of the chaos.

One of my favorite distinctions was learning the difference in overwhelm and being able to identify time overwhelm (life is moving too fast), quality overwhelm (I have to produce such high quality output I'm stressed) or quantity overwhelm (too much to do, period). Knowing what the real worry is has already helped me find solutions to get through the stress.

As an entrepreneur running a busy, successful business with several international clients I have to be on top of my time and ensure that everything is working smoothly. I highly recommend the book whether you're a student facing midterms, overwhelmed by work or searching for a new job or running your own company.

5.0 von 5 Sternen The book I've been needing all my life! 3. Januar 2013
Von Jodi - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Gebundene Ausgabe
As a recent college graduate, I am a professional procrastinator, even though I don't mean to be. When I look back on the past four years of my life, the nights I remember most include lots of Red Bull, coffee, and sunrises as I struggle to stay awake to finish a term paper or cram for an upcoming exam. As I write these words (and admit my bad habit to myself for the first time), I realize how silly I had been. My lack of productivity had actually taken a toll on my health more often than not, and although I did get by with good grades, it was not in the proper way.

I came across this book and immediately thought about my college struggles and how useful this book would have been as a freshman. To learn how to balance my time between classes, extracurricular responsibilities, work, my social life, and still find time to eat normally, exercise regularly, and sleep throughout the night, would have made a huge difference in my health - physical AND mental.

I read this book after graduating college and recommend it for any student of any age, but also for any person struggling with time management. The part I found most helpful discussed taking time for personal care - something that people tend to forget to do in our hectic day to day. How many times have I stayed awake past midnight and worked through the night on a task that could have been completed during normal work hours? Elizabeth points out the importance of sleep and how sleep deprivation can really affect one's productivity. This book taught me the importance of learning how to say "no" to something I do not want or have the time to do, and opened my eyes to how much stress is actually self-inflicted. I can't think of a day in recent months in which I haven't felt overwhelmed or challenged by something, and as the new year kicks off, I have resolved to change that. To become happier. More stress-free. With helpful tips, informative lessons and ready-made routines for balancing my time (my absolute favorite aspect of the book), this book has provided me with the route to achieve that.

5.0 von 5 Sternen Get control of your life 6. Januar 2013

In my early professional career, I attended quite a few time management courses. After reading Elizabeth's book, I discovered that I was not the time management guru that I thought I was. Elizabeth goes beyond just giving a step-by-step approach to managing your time. She provides an in-depth insight to certain behaviors that may hinder your ability to effectively manage your time. I really love this book, because you can start to apply Elizabeth's time management skills rather quickly.

Elizabeth's book is really more than a time management book; it is a guide to help you get control of your life. The lessons from this book are truly a gift and it has inspired me to change the focus of my life. Her book is simply amazing and it is definitely a must read. By creating structure and exercising discipline, her book has helped me to achieve balance and provide a pathway to have a more fulfilling life.
