Its really exciting to read other people's opinions on work that has taken Robert Lomas and myself a joint 18 years. It feels good to hear that we have had an impact on people and some points of critisism are helpful. I would like to correct one comment which suggests that our central thesis rests on the verbal evidence of an unknown Frenchman. This is not true. We finally found documentary evidence in the original versions of old Masonic rituals. Seems the author likes to daydream and believes his random collection of information somehow adds up to indisputable proof. Fellow needs to read a bit more on scientific proofs. Other than that, well the book was interesting and entertaining. But should be on the fiction or UFO shelf.

I feel 1 star is too great an honor for this book.The authors in their honest search for the origins of freemasonry tend make the facts fit together, in their owm liking.Their drive to find an answer caused them to think of things that are just hogwash.Everything form the origins of the shroud, the truth of christianity, and the lies about catholisicm are just plain false.

This book is very logical, it debunks a lot with very good evidence and logical application of facts, a must for any shroud or Freemason buff, the only caveat I would say is that the authors lean toward the freemason-defending side, when they "brush" over charges of bizarre sexual rites, etc, at one point, they pooh-pooh these charges solely because the ratfinks that told the King these stories had a motive to tell, well the authors glide over the fact that according to other authors, like Eustace Mullins in the "Canaan" book, these accusations would come off like a recommendation to have these guys watch your kid! But, for the historical details, this book is amazing! A must read!
