"Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith" has been the title of an episode in the fourth series - and a good episode at that. Now Elisabeth Sladen - part of the Doctor Who-phenomenon for 40 years - is dead at the age of 63 and apart from the rest of the series she leaves back a a lot of Doctor Who-episodes in which she took part and mourners on part of her colleagues, her friends, her family and of course her fans.
This DVD collects the last three stories in which she starred as Sarah Jane Smith, the intrepid reporter who tries to deal with extraterrestrial problems on Earth that the Doctor or UNIT don't find time for. She does this with her partner Rani and Clyde, K9, the computer Mr. Smith and her foster-son Luke - and a sonic lipstick.
1. Episode: Sky. A strange electrical phenomenon goes over London and lets lightbulbs explode. In the same night a baby is put on Sarah Jane's doorstep that two extraterrestrial forces are looking for - even if this might be the end of the Earth.
2. Episode: The Curse of Clyde Langer: An ancient totem-pole makes the name Clyde Langer mud in the mouth of everyone - and throws Clyde into an alien world right here on Earth.
3. Episode: Somebody wants to launch a kind of super-tablet-computer - and Clani and their friends have to stop this. This episode - beaccident - could also be seen as a tribute to Steve Jobs. Strange world that.
In the extras we get a tribute to Elisabeth Sladen by her colleagues, which is in fact quite moving - assisted, just as the episodes and the whole of the new Dr. Who - by the music of Murray Gold.
The episodes are all good and it is sad that there won't be more. Thank you Elisabeth Sladen.
