I am now 65' in full retirement, spent 41 yrs in law enforcement with most of the time being a detective - this means I was a desk cop with no real exercise program and very bad eating habits.

During this period I tried a lot of programs and diets and all I did was Yo Yo on my weight and hurt myself on the track or in the gym.

I also believed most of what the company's said about their Vits, powders, and such. Also I just knew that my Docs would not lead me a stray.

So 3 yrs ago I retired and by research I am now doing most of what is talked about in this book and became fitter and lost weight.

What this book will do for me , is give me a program and structure to what I now know to be a great way to stay healthy as I age.

Also the food part of this program is not diet - it is simple and great way to eat with the joy and taste of clean eating.

I wish I had been exposed to this type of thinking, in the book, many years ago.

I love this book Easy to understand, Easy to Follow and no More Mimics and False Promises about how to get in shape. I had read many books about fitness and half of the books are pages and pages of BS. I love how Philp is so knowledgeable about Fitness, Nutrition..etc.
If you are ready to make a change in your life THiS IS THE BOOK!!!

Never have I met someone so inspiring, someone so clearly walking the talk as Phil. He gets right to the point, and the point is there simply are no shortcuts to taking personal , have a lot of respect for the authors of this book, One look at Phil and it's clear that he knows what he's talking about. Using the 9 principles for a lean & defined body can take anyone at any level of fitness and guide them to obtaining their desired physiqueI've always been pretty fit, lived a active lifestyle, and been fairly good about eating healthy. But one of the things that stood out to me in this book is Principle #9 and how much emphasis Philip puts on making sure your body gets the right kinds of fuels (foods) as opposed to spending all of your time in the gym. telling you that you have to work your butt off in the gym. It's more about having a good balance of eating the good stuff and minimizing the bad stuff, while being efficient and productive in your workouts, not wasting your time doing unproductive exercises.
Since i read this book it help me to change my life, I eat healthy I workout morE I see more results on my body. What Phill said Abs are made in kithen thats right.I would HIGHLY recommend you read this book. Being healthy absolutely affects your attitude, your outlook on life, and your happiness. And by following the principles in this book, it is much more attainable than you may think.

I read several E books on Weight lifting such as "Bigger , leaner ,Stronger' , burn the fat feed the muscle, 51 days, shredded beast and a few others. I like Phil's book a lot and shredded beast is a good one too - Bigger leaner strategy of heavy weights did not workout for me

Phils' book is the deal , he explains how to pick the right foods and what they are , explains the macro nutrients and then goes in detail on what weights to lift and the concept of muscle under tension. Phil is one of the few authors who is not pushing any supplements and his body is proof of his advice . The expanded edition is well written and I use his Workout routines and I can see muscle definition on me from his 8-10 reps with proper form.

Eating right and what to eat and how to Workout is all clear in this book and I am gonna stop reading any more books because it will only add to confusion and make me lose my focus

Finally, after countless hours reading through fitness, body building books and the internet, I discovered what I know is plan for "sustainable" fitness and healthy lifestyle, which is Philip Hoffman's book. To begin my search, I had no idea what information I was looking for, but I knew someone out there had to pull together the science, facts and mainly the experience to lay out a plan to achieve the body I desired, in the most efficient way possible and to keep it for life (which is the true differentiator)

After reading the 9 Principles thoroughly, I am convinced Philip Hoffman's book is the answer, as he is a living example of the results that can be attained at any age. Being 55 myself, knowing his level of fitness is attainable is what has inspired me as well.

In the past when I was in my 30's I was in great shape, but I spent the next 20 years raising a family and living in the corporate world behind a desk only to gain weight from improper diet, stress eating and traveling. During the 20 years I had several attempts to get back in shape from Body for Life and P90x but neither was "sustainable". Then over the last two years, as I was preparing to get remarried, I hit the gym hard losing 15 pounds and feeling good during the wedding. Unfortunately a month later, I had complications from a minor surgery that kept me from the gym for 6 months and the weight came back.

Realizing that now after reading Philip Hoffman's book, 75-80% of a successful fitness plan is nutritional and Philip's expertise in this area is beyond exceptional. Add to this his exercise experience and guidance, make no mistake, this is "the roadmap" for success that you are looking for.
