At this time there are 2 other reviews which are for another totally different book, translated by a brilliant team of translators - that book is blue and hardback; IT IS NOT THIS BOOK. This book with an apple on the cover is a truly poor quality print with cheap paper and worse typesetting - not the same translator, different compilers different editors, different "snowball publishing" publisher. A VERY DIFFERENT TEXT.
The title is the same and the author (naturally) is the same, but this book with an apple is hideously disrespectful of Isaac Newton or anybody who buys a book about him. Send it back on the basis of this quality and on the basis that the other reviews are deceptive and incorrectly included. The blue hardback is altogether a different HIGH QUALITY PUBLICATION it's ISBN-10: 0520088174 and ISBN-13: 978-0520088177 with and TWICE the number of pages and a team of translators that clearly loved translating and Newtons science. If you buy the wrong one you will understand this review is genuine!

the best translation and commentary of one of the most famous books in physics. The old 19th century translation by Wolfers is a flop, the new german translation is a desaster. This is the definitive book. You'll love it because now you understand it. I enjoyed reading Newton - carefully led by the commentaries. Forget any other translations.

This book is simply excellent if you really like Newton's work and its importance for physics. Written in good English, the book is a pathway to understand Newton's mind and why his work was revolutionary. However, it is a good idea to have previous knowledge about classical mechanics.
