Dr. Rendel Harris invited me to give a series of lectures to the Cambridge Summer School of the Free Churches (J uly and A ugust, 1907) on the present state of the study of the Greek Bible, I hesitated to accept the invitation because I am only able to speak English very imperfectly. But three material considerations triumphed over the one formal objection.
