After losing my beautiful 6-year-old Rottweiler to bone cancer this past Christmas, I have come to believe that I was primarily responsible for his death through lack of knowledge about food, vaccinations, quality of drinking water and anything else related to whatever it was he ingested during his lifetime. Over the years, vets have been telling me that "this or that kibble" is just fine, and the dogs need to be vaccinated every year, and on and on. Well, Martin Goldstein's book confirmed for me that the multi-national food companies, the pharmaceutical companies and veterinarians are responsible for the needless death of thousands upon thousands of pet each year (and they have the gall to plead ignorance!). Reading Martin Goldstein's book was both a joy, for I am now armed with knowledge to move forward and take control of the lives of my animals, and a sadness, for I have learned too late that I might have been able to prevent the death of this wonderful animal had I had the benefit of this knowledge sooner. Other reviewers here state that Goldstein doesn't provide enough scientific analysis - well, PIFFLE - I've had scientific studies up to here and three scientific vets couldn't tell me what was wrong with my dog until the day he died and they discounted all of my concerns with his condition while he was ill. "No, it can't be cancer; No, his sudden blindness is probably just caused by an auto-immune disease; No, he probably just hurt his leg from running into something because he can't see!" Too much anecdotal evidence in the book? Hardly. I'd rather have concrete examples of the power of natural healing rather than hand over the lives of my animals to someone whose only vested interest is in making money from them (veterinarians, dog food companies, etc.) Goldstein is an honest-to-god saint. I hope you're reading this Dr. Goldstein for I would walk to the ends of the earth for you because of the gift you have given me and many other people who truly love their pets. A wonderful read, I truly enjoyed every word and I recommend it to anyone who honestly cares about their pets.
