Dr.George Lamsa (died 1975) was a native Assyrian Theologian, whose native tounge was the Galilean dialect of the Aramaic. His life's work is invaluable for understanding the Bible. Unfortunately, the Aramaic Bible Society uses Dr. Lamsa's work without having the copyright to do so. The copyright of Dr. Lamsa's work is owned by his family. But this is only by the way. What is far worse, the editors of this classic by Lamsa are distorting this work by adding material out of scriptures which are written in a different alphabeth than the Estrangela. Dr. Lamsa used ONLY scripture which was written in the Estrangela script. He wouldn't touch any other scripture. If you want a reliable commentary on the Bible, stick either to used books by Dr. Lamsa, or buy Dr. Rocco Erricos books. He worked with Dr. Lamsa for 10 years and is the only legitimate person using that information with out distorting it with other ideas. Dr. Errico works strictly with the Aramaic perspective on the Bible. He is re-writing the commentaries, using Lamsa's material, and is in accord with the heirs to Lamsa.
