Written before Patterson's popular Alex Cross novels, The Midnight Club lacks the suspense of those tales, building up slowly to a rather tame resolution. Like the Cross books, however, it includes many unpleasant elements, including a kidnapped child. Michael Kramer, as always, does a splendid job of reading, but even he cannot make this story gripping. Not recommended.

This is my second non Alex Cross book that I've read and I'm slowly beginning to feel as if I shouldn't waste anymore time on a book that doesn't feature this character. With that said, I found this book VERY slow moving. The plot moved along very slowly but I kept reading it hoping that it would improve. I must say that I absolutely LOVED the ending which at least made me want to give it 3 stars but I'm sure that lots of people will be so bored that they won't stick around that long!

I'd add a sixth star in order to place this book in the proper rating field. I heard it on audio and it kept me nearly breathless through every chapter. Bet I heard at least 100 audio books in "99 - including mystery best sellers - and I must admit that this was the best of the best!

I read about 65 or 70 pages of this book and I just couldn't stand anymore. It was too boring. I did not care for any of these characters. Very slow-moving story. Don't bother!

Great Read
I thought this was one of his better books not involving Alex Cross. It had an interesting storyline with several good twists. I would recommend this book.

Not as good as the Alex Cross Novels

Sensational
In the first few chapters the book leaves you hangin' . As you read on it just gets more confusing untill the end when BAM it hits you and it all makes sence.

Worth the time it takes to read it
