"Inspired Home: Nest of Creatives by Kim Ficaro and Todd Nickey, celebrates the personal styles of dynamic creatives, revealing how inspirations translate to the home. The book opens the doors to masterful spaces of celebrated musicians, stylists, writers, producers, designers and tastemakers. With styles that vary from bohemian modern to beach chic, each space reflects how to live well among one's passions and histories."

“There’s nothing we enjoy more than seeing how the other half lives—especially the cool creative half. You’ll be jealous and inspired at the same time.” –New York Post

"...beautiful coffee-table book...reaveals the inspiring combination of natural light and accidental, lived-in beauty." -New York Times Magazine

"Good books transport us--and this one takes us right into beautiful homes across the country and beyond." -Martha Stewart Living

“…a brilliant new book…The 208 pages of this highly original book are filled with original, bohemian, quirky and expressive and wildly personal interiors. In this new book, Ficaro and Nickey—deeply involved in the creative worlds of New York—have gathered a worldly roster of talented and ingenious (and home-loving) ‘creatives’. Their pals in the field and friends of friends in the book include stylists, artists, architects, editorial stylists, fashion designers, a photographer, as well as creative directors...The interiors shown in The Inspired Home are highly diverse and diverting. Those ‘at home’ include art directors who plan and style and direct the visuals for catalogs or marketing programs as well as photo stylists for fashion companies and furniture designers, a potter. Few are big names in decorating, but their style, collections, editing, and eccentricity shines through. If you love the comfort, aesthetic and power of ‘imperfection’ this is your book.” –The Style Saloniste

"In a beautifully crafted volume, Kim Ficaro and Todd Nickey immerse themeselves in the private worlds of some public creative types to "reveal the true nature of what makes a home a home." -Vogue Living

Very disappointing 25. März 2014
Von Kelli D - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
The photo on the front cover is probably the prettiest, most compelling of the entire book (except for a select few inside the book). And the follow up photo inside was tiny...I was hoping to see more of this home. The majority of the rooms photographed were sparse and uninteresting, which was surprising because they were the homes of creative people. I mistakenly assumed they would be creative in decorating their homes. The title led me to believe the photos would be inspiring...instead I was very disappointed and feel that it was a complete waste of $40.

Perfect for outside-the-box creatives in your life... 10. April 2014
Von Julie Anderson - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe Verifizierter Kauf
I purchased this book because I'm a design-book junkie, but as soon as I saw it I forwarded it to my son who is a photography student and wildly creative sort. He loved it. It's just cool, and for me re-defines - or re-frames - the idea of design. It's not about the matching side tables or the right shade of green, it's about what spills out of you - and then inspires you. Living with such inspiring surroundings is what real design is. A "designer" can help you arrange this, but a really good designer won't impose it - they can't. Most of us are too afraid to trust this intuition. There are of course basic design elements to consider and learn about, but first and foremost it has to be about you - about your life story - where you're at and where you hope to go. This book nails it. It's not about money - or perfect pleats - or designer anything. It's about respecting and enjoying what lights you up. I love this book. If you're toying with what feels good vs. what those magazines say you should do for the new 2014 look, consider this book instead. Really cool perspective.

BRAV0! Finally an inspiring design book that prizes eccentric personal vision above grandeur or glamour. 3. April 2014

I love this book. It's a work of Art. So different from other design books. Every page is a beautiful artistic photograph depicting personality styles of individuals. This book proves that design is about personality and not Square footage. Everyone that sees it on my coffee table is drawn to it and there is always a remark like, "what a beautiful book." The text tells an interesting story about each personality and the nest they have created. Each home is very different and unique. I love how each chapter is set up using categories of specific birds as a metaphor to describe the home or nest of each creative personality. Such a unique way to link nature to personality and design.

Beautiful Photos & Eclectic Style 16. Mai 2014
Von Violet H. - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
This book is a showcase of eclectic style and really represents what a home can look like when the soul is set free to be creative and explore. A poor rating of this book is probably more a reflection on the person leaving the review than on the book itself. If you're looking for inspiration and something outside of the box, don't miss these beautiful photos and design possibilities.

What a letdown! 23. November 2014
Von butterflylovah - Veröffentlicht auf
Format: Gebundene Ausgabe
So disappointing! Inspired? More like sterile, colorless and blah. As another reviewer stated, the most interesting photograph is the one on the cover. I purchased this without looking through it first and I can only say I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. The ONLY home I could identify with in this book was Bill Mullen's. All the others had white walls and a minimalist look that just doesn't click with me. I seriously doubt most people are going to be expecting a book called The Inspired Home: Nests of Creatives to contain photos of bookshelves and living rooms with 2 pieces of furniture. Really felt like I was looking at the same home over and over again until I got to the end of the book and found the one shoot that was interesting/inspiring. This should have been marketed differently as there is nothing artistic, creative or inspiring about the majority of the homes profiled.
