Father Steve Murphy, a Roman Catholic priest, pastor of a parish in an affluent suburb of Washington, DC, revered by his parishioners, believes he is about to be elevated to Monsignor. But, out of the blue, he is transferred without explanation to a temporary university teaching post. Shortly after, he is ordered to a prison-like correctional monastery deep in the Sonora Desert of Arizona. Murphy knows that he has been a devout priest and is puzzled and angry that he has been thrown in with the derelicts of the Catholic clergy. At the monastery, he finds that he has been cast among the pedophiles, alcoholics, embezzlers and other serious offenders who the church hierarchy is pressuring to resign or be defrocked. Convinced that God wants him to continue his ministry, he escapes. Murphy is now a fugitive, pursued by monks from the monastery who are little more than thugs with others to "do whatever it takes" to stop him and return him to the monastery, or even kill him, if necessary. Why, Steve Murphy asks himself, is his church doing this to him?

1.0 von 5 Sternen Guffaw! 14. Mai 2014
Von M. Cotone - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
A friend gave me a copy of this, asking me to read it and give him my opinion of it. First, the author's name may be Tom Clancy, but he clearly is NOT the Tom Clancy famous for the series of novels featuring the character Jack Ryan. Second, that Tom Clancy was a practicing Catholic, and could not ever have written something like this, which reeks of both religious bigotry towards and monumental ignorance about the Catholic Church and its life. Third and last, to any reader who thinks this story has some merit, even as a piece of imaginative fiction, I will be happy to recommend a short reading list to correct the inanities which provide its premise and framework...as soon as I stop laughing at them.

1.0 von 5 Sternen Another Tom Clancy? 7. April 2014
Von Lee Boyland, award wining author - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I do not think this author is "THE TOM CLANCY.”

Assuming the author’s real name is Tom Clancy, then he has every right to use his name on the cover of his book.

However, it appears that most of the reviewers have assumed he is the well known Tom Clancy. The fact that the book is published by Virtualbookworm.com indicates that this author is “self published.” Nothing wrong with this, many good authors are self published. The great Tom Clancy, however, was not.

A disclaimer should be posted to eliminate the confusion.

I have given the book one star because I think the author is taking advantage of his name. To be clear, I have NOT READ the book.

1.0 von 5 Sternen HORRIBLE BOOK 11. Juli 2014
Von Kevin Varisco - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Taschenbuch|Verifizierter Kauf
Huge Tom Clancy fan, but this was literally one of the worst books I've ever read. If you like Clancy, then stay away. First, the book is riddled with grammatical errors and typos, incredibly poor editing. Second, the story is REALLY stupid. The first third to half of the book is decent, but the rest of it is seriously just stupid. Then, it basically just ends. Barely a struggle, barely any resolutions, nothing. I'm really sorry I bought it because now my opinion of Clancy has seriously fallen a few notches.

3.0 von 5 Sternen I finished reading the book----but just barely. 13. Juli 2014
Von Ronald F. Webb - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verifizierter Kauf
The author has a good knowledge of Catholic Liturgy and doctrine. He presents an interesting and complex conflict in the life of a Priest between theology and his desire to serve God. But the plot is weak and uses too many non-realistic gimmicks to advance the story. I finished reading the book, just out of curiosity as to how the author was going to resolve the Priest's issues. The resolution where everyone live happily forever was not any more believable that the rest of the book. I gave it three stars based on the fact that I read the whole book. I do not recommend it, especially if the reader has any background or knowledge in the Church.
