In this second Gloria Lamerino mystery, Camille Minichinointroduces us to Congresswoman Margaret Hurley, killed by ahit-and-run driver just before she is to cast a critical voteregarding the government's helium reserves.

There's no shortage of motives for murder among Margaret's friends andrelatives, from her gambling brother, Buddy Hurley, to her old flame,Patrick Gallagher. And it turns out that a software company CEO,William Carey, has been reaping big profits from the helium operation.

Gloria's old boyfriend Peter Mastrone, her new almost-boyfriend,homicide detective Matt Genarro, and her funeral director friends,Rose and Frank Gagliani, all worry that the investigation that isunfolding in Gloria's hometown of Revere, Massachusetts is extremelyhazardous to her health.

Camille Minichino grew up about a mile from Revere Beach, Massachusetts, the setting for her periodic table mysteries. Like her amateur sleuth, Gloria Lamerino, she has a Ph.D. in physics and has had a long career in research and teaching. Besides writing, one of Camille's favorite occupations is creating and teaching special classes in science literacy for nontechnical people. She is a volunteer with Project Literacy at her local library, and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America. Camille lives with her husband and satellite dish in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she is working onThe Lithium Murder.
