We got this book as a present from our parents who thought that maybe it cann help us to deal with the growing up from our 1,5 years old daughter. We have till now had all the problems of anger management (from both sides) till favorite blanky for sleaping, to chosing what to wear and what to eat. Since we have the book we can say that we understand perfectly what our daughter goes thru and it is lots easier to deal with the everyday situations. Dr. Karp writs from personal expirience as a pediatrician, and the problems in the book ar the everyday problems of the parent and child comunication.
The book is written totaly understandable, its is easy to read it and a parent can find her or him self on almoust every second page.
We found the methods agreeable and helpful, the situations very near to us and we enjoyed every moment of reading, it brought us closer to our child and to her prozess of leraning and thinking.
We cann only say, this book its "THE BOOK" for a better understanding of the childs development. It is a book that every paernt should have!

Typical American writing, filling out page after page with made-up quotes from "Susan, Mother of Trevor" and so on. Karp tries to write with a sense of humor and I really wish he wouldn't. The book could be summed up in three pages, all the rest is filler. And the methods didn't work with my daughter, and I'm not convinced that they actually work with anyone, regardless of what Susan, Mother of Trevor swears.

Dr. Karp writes in a very nice style that does not bore or irritate. His book has enabled me to put my ideas on child rearing into practice by telling me how to achieve what I want to achieve with my child.
The main concept of the book is how to communicate with a small child so that he listens and understands, and it is also about treating children with respect and kindness. I've tried out his FFR and toddler-ease methods, and they actually do work.
I would recommend this book to anybody.

I bought this book after a friend had recommended it to me and I could hardly believe what I was reading. I mean is this man really serious about going on with this caveman thing? Should all parents go around conversing with their children in ape language? How can we possibly rear intelligent little beings if we lower ourselves to this ridiculous behaviour. If Karp is a specialist in this area, then help us god. This book should have a warning hazard on the cover to avoid a "planet of the apes syndrome".
