Kurzbeschreibung

For those who can see demons there is but one maxim: hunt them down until your luck runs out, and then hope for an easy death.

Or so Jason thought until one hellish night in a desert ghost town leaves his life in ruins and his soul tainted with demonic power.

Now the tables are turned and he's the prey, forced to fight a running battle to keep himself and his friends alive. But at what price is he willing to buy his freedom? The demons care nothing for collateral damage, and as the death toll mounts the darkness within him grows stronger, making it ever harder for Jason to resist the allure of his newfound powers...

"THE GRIND SHOW feels like Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez dragged Neil Gaiman through the desert." - Christina Bryant

A review of Phil Tucker's The Grind Show 4. Juni 2011
Von Paul M. Guyet - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Over the years, I have taken part in a handful of gaming sessions.
Never D&D, I've only been interested in White Wolf games, Vampire: The Masquerade, Mage: The Ascension etc.
I've always enjoyed the feel of the White Wolf universe; the characters, the abilities...it all does something for me.
Occasionally, I'll read something that, when finished, makes me want to read more, to find out what happens next in the world the author has created.
What happens next in the universe, to the players in said universe.
When I get that feeling, that yearning to know what happens next, I know I've read a good book.
But when I want to play in the world the author has created, interact with the characters in that world, be a part of it...then I know I've read an excellent book.
Phil Tucker's The Grind Show puts me in that world.
I want to kick in the doors of abandoned desert towns.
I want to tear into a demon twice my size with a samurai sword.
I want to know what lies ahead for Jason and those he calls his friends.
It isn't that you can't put The Grind Show down...it's that The Grind Show won't let you put it down...from start to finish, there is a palpable sense of urgency that, unlike other books of its ilk, is actually based on the events of the story rather than the author's desire to keep the reader awake.
Then there's the accessibility...the action starts on the first page and stops when the book does with a promise of more action to come in a world filled with danger, demons...and worse.
If you're looking for a high-energy, demon-slaying romp (and why wouldn't you be?), then you're looking for The Grind Show.

Good book, but word nazis beware 2. März 2012
Von Robert D. Bennett - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
I bought this book based on the reviews and am about to buy the next one but I thought I'd do a quick review.

I read A LOT, and have to say that this writer has some skills. He gets you into the story, entwines you in the plot and it is definitely a page turner.

However, as a writer myself (http://www.amazon.com/Robert-Bennett/e/B0058EBFJS/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_pop_1) I just want to point out something that may keep some people from blasting this book. If you are one of the word Nazis that get bent out of shape when a word is used incorrectly, a comma is missed, or some other rule of grammar is breached this is not the book for you.

Unfortunately, Mr. Tucker's spell checker can't check to be sure the typed word is the correct one. There are a number of glitches here (breaks instead of brakes, coup instead of coupe) that provide a momentary distraction when reading but the book is so good I count it as a minor issue. However, I know some people that it would drive insane so if you are one of those, this book isn't for you.

However, if you want a good book dealing with good and evil, the supernatural, and demons with a lot of action then this is a good choice. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

Gripping debut by an exciting new talent! 6. Juni 2011
Von SLHuang - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Von Amazon bestätigter Kauf
I have been following Philip Tucker's work since he first started publishing short stories a few years ago. Just blew through "The Grind Show" in a single sitting. I was always a fan but this work is on a totally higher level. Wow! Philip Tucker is the real deal -- a born storyteller with a muscular prose style and the rare ability to conjure a world that is at once fantastic and utterly convincing. Highly recommended.
