Format:Taschenbuch
This was one of James Robinson's best works. He excels at taking little used characters (especially Golden Age ones) and making them human and more relevent for the reader. For the first time I have encountered the JSA they felt more then the cardboard heroes that they have been portrayed as before. Although the plot is not horribly original, they are enough twists and mysteries to keep you guessing. If you are a fan of Starman and want a little bit of a mroe realistic edge on your superheroes, give this a shot.

Robinson is without question the best writer working for DC these days, and the dialogue and historical detail absolutely sparkle here. But--ONE AGAIN--we have superheroes going bad and killing off minor characters and having to be put down in an Armageddon-like battle by other, more owrthy superheroes. Can't DC come up with any new plotlines?
The art is wonderful--Paul Smith, with his sharp, simple (but not simplistic) lines and layouts, is the perfect person to recapture the feeling of the Forties and Fifties era comics.

Alot of people don't like Elseworld comic's but I think there are fab and this one is a winner. The art is great and the writing is tight. It's a little thin for my tastes but holds up well over all. Did they ever publish a follow-up the Silver Age ???? Keep it in mind its worth the effort.
