Wake-up America! Your identity is here.... 18. Mai 2012
Von Maria Dover - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Finally! a modern book about the identity of Caucasian Americans without being racist. America IS Israel in these last days, as Ballard brings out. Ballard shows that the bloodline of Israel (all 12 tribes/sons, not just 1 tribe) are alive and well today. He uses Biblical references such as Genesis 49 that actually state, "in the last days" and describe the latter year blessings the sons' of Israel would be given. He draws upon the several land descriptions in scripture that describe the physical landscape and blessings of America. He shows that the middle-eastern state, named Israel, does not contain the "last days" physical characteristics and blessings described in the pages of the Bible. America is the "promised land" the ancients looked forward too.

Ballard also brings forth America's founding fathers' knowledge of who Israel was/is in the last days and the great commission and covenant they were given. (This is information that has been suppressed since the 1950's in this country.)He focuses on the covenants God made with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob(renamed Israel) and ultimately the covenant George Washington invoked.

While he is not the first to research and author this subject, he brings the topic forward in an inviting style to all peoples.

Time to wake-up America!...Know who you are (claim your identity), clean up your act (live righteously), and claim the promises of the Almighty, your God!

ML Castor 17. Mai 2012
Von LeAnn Donohue - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
One of the most amazing books I have ever read, and ever written. Thank you Timothy for all of your hard work and sacrifice in bringing this much needed national treasure of truth to us and our Nation, especially in our time of need more than ever! The insight and research of our real history, and our linkage to Israel of old is essential for us to understand our position with God and His Covenant with each.

History with a spin 15. November 2012
Von Roanld Tenney - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
I wanted to like this book. It combines a few areas that I am quite passionate about. I love Old Testament theology and I love American History. I found myself asking over and over while reading this book, "How would I write differently if I were to author this book?" The answer was hard for me to come up with.
I agree that God's hand was in the foundation of America. I also agree that one purpose for the freedom we enjoy was to allow a restoration of the Gospel of Christ to be come forward. So what bothers me about Ballard's approach?
I think that so often, literally dozens of times, Ballard tells a story about the founding with the end in mind. He states exactly what God's purpose was in the event. Even the participants could not see what God (and Ballard) can now see. I thought that maybe God should have been the co-author. That is too harsh. In reality, we all look for signs that God is on our side or that our interpretation of the "facts" are the most informed or consistent with his will.
To his credit, Ballard did quote many of my favorite historians. Gordon Wood is my favorite historian of the Revolutionary period. The extensive biography at the end of each chapter was a pleasure to review. I liked his in-depth notes at the bottom of some pages and in the end-notes. They were very insightful.
I did enjoy the commentary on the faith of many of the founders. I still differ with many who find Thomas Jefferson to be a profoundly religious man. I think he wanted to have a fair marketplace for all religions, not because he was a believer, but because he was consistent in wanting to minimize the role of government in our lives.

As an LDS reader, one more comment is in order.
Ballard seems to have the church's teachings and doctrines in mind. He advocates many ideas that are consistent with our doctrines. Yet he skirts along the edges of the church and never comes out and states the source of his beliefs. For example, when quoting Gordon Hinckley on page 70 (footnote 37) he states, "As one modern Christian leader noted, ..." yet he quotes Herbert Armstrong by name repeatedly. Many other LDS authorities and scholars are quoted frequently. Yet their religious beliefs remain obscured. Why does it matter? It matters because our doctrine is clearly the framework from which he is writing, thinking and interpreting history. I feel that it would have been more authentic to state what we believe rather than to try to construct the entire book in a way that will lead an "objective" reader to come to the same conclusions that many LDS members hold. Why not write a book of faith, using selected history to tell the story?
As you can tell from my ramblings, thank goodness I didn't try to write this book. There is a treasure-trove of well-known stories and many more that are not well-known. As noted above, the bibliography convinces me that Ballard is very well-read and has put his considerable talents to good use in presenting this treatise. I don't believe that religious freedom was even on the radar at the time of the revolution, but thank God that it flourished in America.

The book describes the foundation of American history that is by-passed in our educational system today. 19. Januar 2014
Von WILLIAM E. MILLER - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
It's a sad commentary that Americans - especially our children - do not understand the founding principles of the United States and the miraculous beginnings of our country. Our education system puts liberal progressiveness and political correctness ahead of historical fact.

"The Covenant" tells a story of America that we all should understand. We are a special place in the world and are indeed blessed by God as few people would deny. Our founding fathers understood that blessing and the responsibilities of all Americans to keep it. The book presents a moral compass for all Americans and the rich history we share should be core curriculum in our public as well as private educational institutions. All of our children should understand it.

This book is not only inspirational but factual.Every patriot in America should read this. You will gain a whole new perspective and love and respect for what our Founders did.....but more: they honestly called upon the Lord God Almighty Who performed miracles through them to set this nation up. And now we have got to become faithful to our God Himself to re-take this nation for its original intent. Please read this important book. I got it on Kindle....will order the hard copy also.
