"The Contact Sheet" by Steve Crist is another high quality publication by AMMO. The beauty of this book is that it takes you on a magical mystery tour inside the heads of some accomplished photographers, providing insight into how each translated their vision into reality. Two examples in this book that are particularly insightful are Elliott Erwitt's photos of Marilyn Monroe and Saul Leiter's of Diane Arbus. You couldn't get two more wildly different subjects, but knowing how they each ended up, we are left haunted by the images. "The Contact Sheet" is also a teaching tool. When I review student's photos I tell them I want to see the whole take in order to give them helpful criticism, not just what they believe is their best shot well printed. "The Contact Sheet" is a road map to helping you end up as a better photographer, and I highly recommend it.
