Same Book as "Seraphic Singles" 12. Mai 2010
Von M. A. Hodge - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
I'm not very good at writing reviews, but I just wanted to let people know that this is the same book as _Seraphic Singles: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Single Life_. It was simply retitled and given a new cover by its American publisher. (Hate it when they do that!) However, whichever edition you choose, you simply must buy a copy. I have the Canadian edition and have already read it twice. It's that good.

Go over to the Canadian edition and read the excellent reviews there.Seraphic Singles: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Single Life

an upbeat, witty look at the single life 21. August 2010
Von H.T. Reynolds - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch Verifizierter Kauf
The life of a singleton can be frustrating. Romantic comedies that start with singletons always end with happy couples, advice books hector you and order you about on how to finally find a man, and if you are over 25, you are also alternately blamed for society's ills for not getting on with growing up by getting married and warned not to be desperate to get married. If you are practicing Christian, things are even more intense, since you are viewed with pity and suspicion for not joining in on the 3rd-date-is-sex dating life. "The Closet's All Mine!" is a happy, hilarious look at how the beauty and occasional frustration of single life from a Catholic perspective. It's an honest look at the pains of single life, but also an attempt to find its graces and unexpected joys. If you are worried about buying a "blogger book," don't be. The essays are short, but well written and hold up on the page as well as on the screen. It's the best written relationship (or non-relationship) advice book that I've read.

Embracing the Single Life 3. September 2010
Von Erin - Veröffentlicht auf Amazon.com
Format: Taschenbuch
Cumming's book offers a refreshing insight to the single women (and men too) out there in a real manner. Dorothy isn't a psychologist or counselor rather she is a real woman brave enough to be honest with how she as a woman has played the hand of cards she has been dealt in life. Set up in a journal format the book is great for picking it up to read it one entry at a time or the whole thing at once. It was a quick read and often had me laughing along with her tales. I loved how the book was very relateable and not overly preachy, but still brought God into the picture in a natural way. If you are looking for a light hearted, not too serious, book about embracing the single life then give this book a glance.

This book is really encouraging reading for single women with strong morals. The author describes her life as a seraphic single, and gives advice based on her experiences.

staying single and remaining true to The Church's moral teachings 20. November 2011

Mrs. Cumming's, better known as the Seraphic Single or Auntie Seraphic, has been blogging and writing about her life as a single Catholic woman for quite a few years. She is now married but her wisdom still serves to aide the single woman looking to find contentment in her state of life.

The Closet's All Mine reads as an intimate journal with anecdotes and advice for the single reader. It permeates with common-sense. Common-sense is usually the first thing to fly out of a woman's head when gripped in moments of panic that they will never marry or when in the beginnings of a new relationship and hormones cut off blood supply to the brain. Which ever situation you get caught up in, The Closet's All Mine is filled with sage advice on how to cope. Mrs. Cummings offers herself up as an example of what to do, or in some cases what not to do, to ease your panic stricken mind.

Her book will not tell you how to find a man. Her book also won't tell you how to keep a man. She won't tell where you need to be looking, doing, or wearing to snare a husband. In fact, she is brutally honest in stating that many of us will never be married. The Closet's All Mine is not a dating book. It's simply a book that plainly speaks the reality of being a single woman - the good and the bad. Her book is about finding peace with being single and accepting where God has put you in this particular moment of your life. Whether you are in your early twenties and trying to figure out men or in your late thirties or forties and are beginning to think you will never be married, Dorothy writes with a gentle humor that is strikingly earnest. These are things your wish your friends would say to you but fear doing so unless they risk your friendship.

The Closet's All Mine is a quick read with short chapters, each filled with a lesson or bit of wisdom that you can find yourself returning to whenever you begin feeling sorry for yourself that you are going to yet another Christmas party stag. It's the perfect pick-me-up and I can whole heartily recommend having a copy for yourself or for your favorite single gal pal.
