If you've been lucky enough to have read book 1 from this series, The Chronicles Of Jenson Quest - The Rise Of Va'kaar, then you may feel like me that sliding back into this story was like putting on a pair of your comfiest, most best loved slippers. We seamlessly re-entered the world of the Zylls, The Keepers, the Drak and a special human friend, Jenson Quest wing commander of the Drak force, who help The Keepers along the way to defend the realms around them who have each sent a warrior to help all to stay alive.
Va'kaar is pretty much an old school bad guy that most everyone reading would like to kick his butt! In book one he arranges to kill off all of the main leadership of the Zylls so he can take over as the head honcho and steals many of their space ships to accomplish his goal to kill all the realms that aren't of Zyll origin and basically take over all the worlds. This guy has one heckuva ego! At the end of this part the slimy creep has slithered away without getting what his due and has managed to split the Zyll forces with some fiercely loyal to him that have chosen to remain with him, others have ran and joined up with the forces of good (The Keepers & Drak) and some others have been trapped on ships ruled by Va'Kaar longing for escape.
In book 2 Jenson and the rest of the Drak fighters, 1 from each known realm, are again called into service to help The Keepers this time assisted by the Zyll who have turned from Va'Kaar. His goal this time out is to take possession of ships that The Keepers have removed from the hands of the Zyll they have captured over time whom he calls prisoners that now reside on a protected world and free them. What Va'Kaar doesn't realize or maybe just doesn't want to acknowledge is that The Keepers have offered to each Zyll who lives there the right to go back to the Zyll world and they have chosen not to and are there of their own free will. He threatens several realms with destruction along the way.
Go ahead and read to see if Va'Kaar finally gets what should be coming to him. Will book 3 now being written still have us chasing this guy or does something else happen to drive the story forward? This is a space opera driven by action and filled with adventure. If you come on board, I don't believe you will be disappointed.
This series is suitable for both YA and adults in my opinion.
