Although this book is fiction it is written with a great deal of Bible history and facts with new insights of what's not recorded in Bible. The book has a moving story line about a man's journey from non-belief to finding out the truth about the Man Jesus Christ and what happened to him, and/so finding God. The author gives a remarkable look at early Jerusalem and a personal look at the disciples of Jesus as the the character wakes up mysteriuosly from a fight to the time just after the resurrection of Jesus; with the intent to try and prove what happened to the body of Jesus after his burial. The Book is Very entertaining and uplifting. A Keeper! :-)
Rarely has a story stayed so fresh in my mind. My second reading of this book was as enjoyable as the first. The tale is woven around the Gospels and doubts about the resurrection of Christ. Mandino's main character, true to his atheistic nature, sets out to prove that there was a well planned and executed conspiracy to make the Nazarene a martyr. The twists and turns in the plot kept me reading and wondering, "What will the result of this inquiry be?" Turning events from the bible into a "mystery" story produces a book worth reading.
An incredible journey, back to the time when Christ was crucified, and the events surrounding his death and ressurection. All the questions you ask yourself after reading the account in the Bible are answered here in story form, and actual "interviews" are placed with the disciples of old. The book puts you right there, and lets you feel the fear and anxiety of being one of the chosen, and how your faith can be put to the test.
Og Mandino personally recommended this book to me one day when I met him in his home. At the time I had no clue this man was "in touch with God" - I didn't even know who he was. This book made scripture come alive for me and is the best book I've ever read. Thanks, Og, I know you are with Him now! Do you realize that if you move around the letters in Og Mandino you get "O Man in God"?
I have bought this book at least three seperate times. I have loaned it out to many friends, and they all tend to love it as much as I. While most return the book, at some point it ends up missing and that is ok, becuase I know it is being passed on to even more people who will enjoy it. I will continue to buy copies, as this book is well worth it.
This is a book that makes you say, "OK, so it is not doctrine, but it could've really happened this way!" The author has obviously done extensive research, yet it is fun to read rather than a book of facts. You can't put it down, but since it's short enough that you can get it read without losing your job and family!
This is a great book that sets the scene of what the lives of Jesus' followers were like the days and years after Jesus' life here on earth. Og Mandino brought to life the characters and even the countryside. This is a must read for anyone who serves Jesus Christ and enjoys a good work of fiction.
This story weaves an excellent, informative telling of the evidence of Christ's Resurrection. It's told from a skeptic's point-of-view and draws you in with its narrative style. For such an informative book, it truly is a page-turner! I recommend it to believers and seekers alike.
the christ commission is the best of all as usual og mandino draws you into the story as with all his books you just can't put them down. at first i was not happy with the begining but as i read and of course i couldn't puy it down and was drawn to the greatest story i ever read.
This book changed my life! It made me look more deeply at the story of Christ's death and the events occuring around it. It tied together all of the information of the gospels to make it seem much more real to me than it had ever been before.
