Great book- well written.
I was surprised to find "procurement teachings" packaged into a great and easy read novel.... It's definitely not a dry theoretical book, but a pretty realistic storyline of how a senior management role can evolve with years, truthful (to yourself and others) behavior, charismatic networking and a good portion of luck. It reveals some of the major difficulties families might experience in similar situations (being promoted into a different country/culture, working hours, priorities, marriage, kids etc). What I particularly liked about the book is, that not only procurement expertise/practices are shared, but a lot of philosophical insights as well.
Enjoy the book - I would wish that the human/ethical side of management and management consulting always were that crystal clear! Definitely one of the best books in years on the subject...

very interesting and exciting novel that describes situations that can happen while starting in a new job position. It is a brief summary of various management tasks, business and family problems and recommendations on how to tackle and solve them.

... for a Consulting Company to write a novel and send it to all CPOs in Europe as "sales tool" (I received it three times...).
It is an entertaining novel, easy to read. However, rather than giving tangible advice to potential CPOs, it just offers "teasers" for potential tools and projects which A.T. Kearney might sell at a later stage.
If you get it for free, you can read it. However, would not recommend it as a purchase.
