In 2008 the name of the band changed into The Bahama Soul Club for some legal reason and their first album “Rhythm Is What Makes Jazz Jazz” amazingly followed up the outstanding success of The Juju Orchestra. They defnitely did it again with incredible vocal features like french chanteuse Isabelle Antena from Nouvelle Vague and Mrs. Pat Appleton from DePhazz. With Pat Appleton they also established a 9-piece live orchestra and played all the famous jazz festivals in Germany and lots more in Europe. 2010 - The second BSC album “Bossa Nova Just Smells Funky” with guest singers Xantoné Blacq from Amy Winehouse Band, British shooting star John Turrell, Kojato and again Pat Appleton, just to name a few, was the biggest success with radio features on ALL german public radio stations and countless “CD of the month / Album of the year” features worldwide and lots of Chart entries. At least with this album The BSC became one of the most important contemporary European Jazz projects.
So, but what‘s the difference between The BSC and other Nu-, Club-, Latin- or whatever-Jazz projects?
The BSC is better! Really, simply great music with a colourful sound, combining afrolicious Bossa-Jazz with 60s Soul and 70s Funk out of temporary fashion. The positive vibes transcends boundaries, language, colour boundaries. It‘s hard to resist. It always moves forward. It’s not doing in and out of favour, – It’s just gonna be there.
